  1. So, "good ole boys" and "rednecks" are SAD to you? And all Tea Party members must be toothless "got a purty mouth" Deliverance wanna bees? Well, aren't you being quite the elitist CA prick. So, right back at ya, LIBTARD...since YOU already started with the name calling. Hope you don't like shooting as a "hobby".
  2. Like the KYK- .... Um, better stop right there.
  3. I highly doubt going from 30 feet or so to 3 feet (MAX) accuracy is going to help the Jawas very much over there... Sure, it might put them right at the Sbarro's counter (hold the pork toppings) instead of just in the food court...if that's an "advantage" at the local Tattooine mall.
  4. Then who died and made YOU lord of the dance?
  5. Wait until they try to put a "tax" on using the signals and having to pay some sort of a subscription fee like satellite radio. Then NONE of our current receivers would work at all. I can see it coming...it's only a matter of time and I'm surprised it hasn't been implemented a long time ago. Just too many users, both consumer and commercial, here and abroad, to let all that money just slip through fed.gov's fingers...
  6. Exactly. Can't wait until the TOTUS/"squatter in chief" is kicked out on his azz and out of the White House for good.
  7. Fine. He'll just tax everything else (as he already plans to do) and make the price of living life so goddamned expensive that we won't even be able to afford to put gas in our cars, along with a great many other things. He definitely CAN affect peoples' ability to cache through many avenues, if not directly...
  8. Dude, it was just a saying in general. I didn't mean it as singling you out. A "LOAD" of AA batteries? I can make a set of AA batteries last a WEEK + on my 60CSx without having the thing turned on all the time like some people do. Just get your fix, plot it/shoot a bearing, turn off and move on... And, I always carry a spare set of AAs Haven't actually needed them yet, but I always have them. Well, what happen if/WHEN you do? Not all of us live our lives (ever hear of primitive camping?) near constant "plug in" power solutions...
  9. No kidding. With those light components, it would be like sticking a piece of tape to your hand...and then trying to slam your hand hard enough to actually knock it off. Ouch!
  10. The Garmin 60CSx is an OLD design. I'm running an 8GB microSD card just fine and have been doing so for quite a while. I've read of even larger 16GB+ cards working, but I haven't needed more memory. I have about 2GB to spare on my card. Not for people who actually USE their GPS in the field (sometimes for a week+) and aren't "Starbucks" type casual users/geocachers...
  11. Oh yeah? Anyone in the states know a readily handy source for these dummy exhibit cases...and how much they cost? I've never seen one for sale and I don't think Garmin just goes and makes these available to the public. Probably distributors only...
  12. Booyah! Just got back from cranking a few hundred rounds through a new 1911 out in the AZ desert. Garmin was safely on oboard with the Nuvi and 60CSx in the truck. I mark every new, good shooting spot I find.
  13. That's an excellent point. If that thing hit/smashed so hard as to actually RIP teeny, tiny components with virtually no mass/inertia right off the circuit board, that thing would be in a LOT worse shape.
  14. Yes...#2... Why pay their engineers, R&D team, etc when they KNOW they can throw a unit out that is not ready for prime time and the fanboys will STILL eat it up? Then they sit back and watch their unknowing, unpaid EMPLOYEES (in the form of beta testers) flog the crap out of the unit for them, find/post/bitch about problems and THEN release firmware updates as they see fit to make the peons happy. All they have to do is troll the boards. Virtually no out-of-pocket expense, as compared to paying REAL employees, who are on the clock. Not just GPSr's - Apple, anyone? Yup, that's why my post was "generic" and didn't mention GPS or a specific manufacturer.
  15. Easily done to have the entire US. In fact, the latest 2011.10 has all of Canada AND Mexico, too. The entire .img file is just over 1.2 gigs.
  16. Dang, how hard did you bash that thing? Find an old roadside landmine there in Serbia or something?

  18. Same reason I don't want a phone, bottle opener, etc built into my every day concealed carry firearm, either. Sometimes, separate devices are a very good idea.
  19. The BEST way to manage maps on the GPS itself is to load them all one-by-one on a large SD card. I use an 8 gig microSD card in my 60CSx. After each map is loaded, rename it so the next map loaded doesn't overwrite it. The default map is always called "gmapsupp.img". It takes a LOOOOOONG time to build/load maps in Mapsource, but only a few SECONDS to rename a file. My SD card has several topo maps on it AND all of City Navigator with almost 2 gigs to spare. I usually keep the western third of the Garmin US TOPO 2008 map (from DVD) as my active map. If I want another one, I just hook it up via USB and go to the SD card directory, change the name of the current "gmapsupp.img" file to "whatever.img" and then rename the map I want to "gmapsupp.img". Now, it automatically loads and becomes the active map on the next start-up. It's very quick and better than waiting for Mapsource to build them all over again. Even dragging and dropping a previously built map from the computer directly onto the SD card in the GPS is SLOW. I understand the new Oregons let you pick from a list of ANY .img file right on the unit itself. This is quite nice as you don't need a computer (or smart phone) to rename files in the field.
  20. This...he must be doing it wrong. I have excellent maps of Arizona and Florida from gpsfiledepot.com.
  21. This...right here... Funny how Garmin is an "American" company, yet they're "based" in the Caymans and now looking to move to Switzerland for tax purposes and all their stuff is made in Taiwan. Even though my Nuvi says "Designed in the USA" From their own web page: http://www8.garmin.com/aboutGarmin/invRela...s/8K_031710.pdf "On March 17, 2010, the Company issued a press release announcing a proposal to change the Company's place of incorporation from the Cayman Islands to Switzerland pursuant to a scheme of arrangement ("Scheme of Arrangement") under Cayman Islands law, which, upon effectiveness, would result in a newly formed Swiss company, also called Garmin Ltd., that would replace the existing Cayman Islands company as the ultimate public holding company of the Garmin group. The Scheme of Arrangement requires the approval of the shareholders of the Company and the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands."
  22. Consumer GPSrs made in America? Seriously???
