  1. Because pressing the page button (complete with compass symbol) for a second or two to toggle the compass off/on with that big COMPASS TURNED ON (OFF) box at the bottom of the screen was so hard? Seriously, I've seen this complaint before and can't understand what's so hard about it. Unlike Garmin's road units, the 60CSx actually DOES come with a somewhat decently printed owner's manual and, if the unit was used and came without a manual? No excuse. It's still available on-line for free. It's not like it's some hidden easter egg feature. Plus, there's actually a compass icon printed on the button. Already covered that.

Not all the extra/new stuff, but as a good, old solid GPS unit getting you from point A to the cache?
  3. If Garmin did this to me, I'd have NO problem buying two or three at a time until I got a "good" one and send all the rest back. Sucks for the retailer(s)? Sure...but GARMIN is causing their problem. In fact, as new as this thing is, I don't think I'd even deal with Garmin. Return and replace...wash, rinse, repeat.
  4. No, it's not "next to nothing". It's about Garmin putting out a piece of crap case that is almost EXACTLY the same as the 60CSx predecessor case and expecting customers to take it in the arse, as demonstrated by the reply in the post above. THAT case was just fine. Very solid but Garmin had to go and screw up a good thing that they had ALREADY FIGURED OUT? That's what most people are pissed about.
  5. Is that what they're calling it these days? However, I don't think it would work.
  6. I have a GM100. Bought it in '98, I think. Forget about geocaching with that brick of a dinosaur. It is not accurate enough. Those came out before selective availability was turned off and, therefore, not designed to take advantage of the increased accuracy that was available beginning in 2000. Also, the antenna is NOT a high sensitivity one by any means. You WILL lose satellite signal in the thinnest of tree cover. It's a tired, old unit. Ditch it and get something better.
  7. If this is a legit *business*, then they can get money for a GPS and don't have to play "beggar in a 3rd world country". Hell, they probably qualify for more grants and tax breaks than we could ever dream of as a DAY CARE, but...have they even applied for those grants? The educational ones? A GPS "class" should EASILY suffice and then they could buy ones on the state. er...um...TAXPAYER. Exactly.
  8. No, and I can immediately tell you why. STOP pushing on the back right where the sensor is. See those little four holes in a diamond pattern? Quit pushing on it in that general area and your problems magically go away. If you want to push on the screen...get an Oregon. What you are doing is NOT the normal way a 60CSx is used or HELD when accessing the buttons, where your fingers are nowhere near that sensor port.
  9. So, whatever happened to "Beggars CAN'T be choosers"? The don't get to have the choice of not ending up with a lot of junk.
  10. Yeah, it's called the 60CSx. Build it THAT WAY. They've already "figured" this out and should have gone with what WORKS from the get go...and/or found these *issues* with the 62 BEFORE it ever hit the shelves.
  11. What difference does it make? It's not like they're asking you to pay your tax dollars for this Oh really? A lot of these types ARE on the tax dole so they can "live" their lifestyle. But, you can ignore this since you don't want to talk about it, right?
  12. And this, obviously, can NOT be fixed with an easily downloaded update. Either Garmin will issue a recall (yeah, right), or pretty much have to fix every one the owners care to send back. Or will they go the Apple route and offer a generous $99 *upgrade* to trade in their DEFECTIVE units for the new one like they did with the first iPhone?
  13. Maybe not so much in THIS specific example, but a lot of this hippie freecycle is just BS. I live in a liberal, hippy la la area of Arizona and it's basically just a way to get free sh^t. See it all the time amongst the dred wearing goat walkers... Yet they ALWAYS seem to have money for pot. It's like that episode of The Goode Family where that whacked out freecycle hippie was "finding" a use for every piece of garbage salted his food with his own tears.
  14. Or, so it would *seem*... This is pretty much EXACTLY what happened with the iPhone 4 release. Apple acted like there was nothing wrong with the antenna design, but when the "uneducated, unwashed masses", i.e. CUSTOMERS, figured out calls were dropping on the FIRST day of release? And, then they had these rubber phone condom things all stocked up and ready to go because they would *fix* the problem...with a rubber band...literally? You cannot tell me those Apple engineers didn't know about this problem if they'd just USED the damned thing like a phone. They knew about the signal strength loss and dropped calls...and did NOTHING about it until after release because they knew their good little fanboys would lap up their crap anyway. These companies are really pushing/abusing the limits of their customer patience.
  15. Bullcrap. My 60CSx fluctuates about +/- 15 or so feet in altitude when held and pressing buttons...SAME as it already does without being held.
  16. He's not asking for free handouts, either. That wasn't my point. Then what was it?
  17. Then you do not *NEED* a GPS unit, which will still cost you money in the form of batteries, either disposable or rechargeable...or do you want that free, too? Are you posting via computer on the internet from HOME? If so...you're not that bad off...
  18. Uh, you own the darned thing, which means you're more of an "expert" on it than most everyone else here. Just poke around in the menus. I'm sure it's not too hard to see what's under the "display" menu and if there's anyway to display the background/theme colors as on the 60CSx...
  19. What about the rubber seal on the case and underside of the battery cover? Another poster above said silicone grease was the fix for the Colorado battery case seal/gasket. It's not an O-ring and looks to be the same time of rubber as the connector covers.
  20. That's what I thought, but when I asked about it and the plug covers on my 60CSx, people said it would eat the rubber. Also, someone recommended Vaseline and I do believe that is a NO NO!
  21. Wouldn't silicone grease degrade and destroy rubber seals? I read that somewhere...
  22. Don't know about Sweden, but they will be as good as anything else available for that area.
  23. Um, thanks for spending/wasting your time? However, I got a real easy fix for ya there, sport. How 'bout simply not reading my messages anymore since they, apparently, get you all hot and bothered for whatever reason? Or put me on yer fancy ignore list, if this forum has that feature... Ain't that hard in the grand scheme of things, really... Yup, just checked. There's an ignore feature under "My Controls" at the top. USE IT.
