  1. Wow, I hope you returned that Delorme unit, or the battery pack if you bought it separately. 20-30 min? Definitely something wrong. I have a four year old beat up Nuvi and still get 1.5hrs on a full charge and that thing has been used a LOT.
  2. Same here. I got my first "batch" from Costco and bought 20 more on Amazon. All are the same size and fit everything perfectly in my GPSrs, some remote controls and my weather monitoring station.
  3. Nope...just smart, worldly and beautiful...don't be a hater.
  4. Nope, never had this problem. I just stood some up next to a few other brands of AAs, including Duracell, and there's no difference in height or circumference.
  5. Sounds like you need to learn about "airplane mode".
  6. 10 hours is impressive? I routinely get 20+ hours on my 60CSx with Sanyo Eneloop rechargeables. That's with some decent backlight use (since it got dark), but I never really use the electronic compass, which is also a big battery "burner" type function. What really surprised me was getting about 22 hours over the course of an entire day in NYC. I turned it on at O'dark thirty when we left the house in Connecticut and turned it off after the train ride back and getting home. The amazing thing was it lasted that long doing overtime on processing all those strange signal paths bouncing around in the urban canyons. It tracked surprisingly well, too.
  7. Oh come on...please... You really have to have a *zen* to know when your batteries are going to die? You don't know *about* how long they last? You say 10 hours min. Do you go all that time without ever looking at the GPS? What about a watch, cell phone (set alarm to VIBRATE), etc? You have something that keeps time. CHANGE the batteries out well before you know they're going to die if you're going to be out longer than you think they'd normally last. Like, say, after 8 hours if they normally die at 10. Ain't that hard...
  8. Why is that a "nuisance"? When the batteries get low...STOP...save track...change batteries...turn on...start new track log. "Stitch/combine" when you get home on the computer.
  9. Why do you care? If one guy says 20 hours and another says 3, does that affect you in ANY way as to your GPS decisions/usage? My personal desire is around 14 hours and nobody else's "measurement" is going to change that.
  10. Hmmm... I set all my desired user settings and now the plot doesn't work anymore. Back to square one.
  11. Should have just looked up "hard reset" first. That fixed it. Weird as to why it stopped in the first place, though.
  12. Today, I got some time to play with my 60CSx in the car since I wasn't driving. I noticed it would not plot the elevation on the elevation screen with either "Plot over Distance" or "Plot over Time" selected. It would plot the ambient and barometer (in/hg) readings, but not the elevation. Any clue as to why? I set the range on the Y axis down to 360 feet and the X axis to either 30 seconds or 0.12 miles, which are the smallest selections. The elevation changes and reads fine on the same page as does the VSI type reading showing the rate of climb or descent in feet per minute. It just won't plot on the main X/Y axis part of the screen. I don't ever remember having any problems with this before. I didn't see any menu settings that would turn off or otherwise affect the plot.
  13. I find MEC gps prices a little high, but if you have a LeBaron nearby Is John Voight around? Sorry, couldn't resist.
  14. Not from DVD... Seeing that you either haven't caught on yet or are purposely being obtuse, lets clear something up. He's referring to MapSource Topo US. It only came on CD. BZZZ! WRONG MapSource Topo US (2008) definitely comes on...tada!!! DVD. Just like mine did. So yourself. http://www.gpsnow.com/gmmstp.htm http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-MapSource-Top...K/dp/B000RAASFK http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/s...r:referralID=NA Enough links for ya there, Einstein? Lots of links to the wrong product that clearly show you don't know witch way the mop flops. Prime never said he had TOPO US 2008, you assumed he did and you know what they say about that. Nope, wrong again. You incorrectly, very much so, said MapSource Topo US only came on CD. That is not the case. Read your OWN quote...again... I think it's time you two put your toys away. Kiss and make up Oh, come on. Halloween is fast approaching and he needs to practice riding his "floppy witch mop" toy. Then he can put it away...or not...WHICHever he decides...

  17. I don't know why Garmin won't come out with an update for MapSource to reorganize the tiles into "bigger" ones for those who have it on DVD. The micro SD card version is nice in that you can have the entire US available all the time, but... If you lose or damage the card, it's gone forever. From what I understand, it can't be backed up by copy/pasting the files to your computer. It's somehow physically locked to that exact micro SD card. Same as trying to pull the .img map file off a Garmin Nuvi and pasting it in the correct folder on another exact same unit. Won't work because it's tied to the serial number or something else unique in the firmware of each specific unit. Also, it can't be used in MapSource...only on the GPS unit. That's a "no go" right there for me...
  18. Interesting that they went to torx fasteners when the phillips screws on the 60CSx worked just fine. Another case of "re-engineering" something that was perfectly fine?
  19. Um, I HIGHLY doubt it. That's why I recommended that everyone who still has the ability to go ahead return their units NOW and either keep buying/returning until they get a "good one" or just sit it out until Garmin fixes the problem...if they ever do... I know that's what I'd be doing. It's not going to kill anyone to keep using their dirty old 60CSx's (or whatever) a bit longer. It's not like those good, solid units all of the sudden became complete pieces of crap overnight or something. Yeah...riiiiiight... All one has to do is look to several models in their Nuvi line-up, both new and old, so see that ain't gonna happen.
  20. So, just turn off some of the cooler features (and expense) over the 60CSx? Yes, I would rather turn them off than deal with a map that's harder to read. Then why spend the extra money on a unit advertising cool features that you're just going to turn off anyway?
  21. Regarding the squeaking and the resultant irritating noise, seems people definitely are worried about "functionality"...as in ALL OF IT being lost when the unit got wet/submerged because they were afraid (rightfully so) of the case integrity being compromised with time and use thereby letting water in through sloppy seals/seams. If what you say about the circuit board is true, then that's great.
  22. So, just turn off some of the cooler features (and expense) over the 60CSx?
  23. Oh, good lord...who used the term "annoy" in ANY form until now? YOU...not I or anyone else... You just said the same darned thing. Admit it... You were annoyed and simply RTFM would have quickly alleviated said "annoyance". I'll let you look up what "RTFM" means. Wait, sorry... I re-read my previous post where you were quoted. You actually said you were FRUSTRATED with the 60CSx and had to have someone else tell you how to do it. "Quite frustrated" is "quite indicative" that you'd dealt with this very simple "problem" for some time. My apologies. And, not that I expect you will, you never answered my question above which DOES contribute to this thread.
