  1. Well, like I said, I'm getting responses...quickly, too, eh?
  2. WOW. A little impatient. GG probably figured you had read the manual so he didn't include the obvious. The 600 is running a newer generation of firmware than the 10 year old 60 series so that would be one of the reasons it's different. Not impatient, responding to a rather rude "know it all" who attacked me several times, here and elsewhere. And, didn't even take the time to read the post before suggesting I not use IE. There is also NO reason the much newer Oregon 600 can't accept geocaches sent directly like, as you said, the TEN YEAR OLD 60 series. If anything, it's a geocaching.com problem because the hardware can definitely do it.
  3. Figured it out, zero thanks to you. It needed to be in USB MASS STORAGE mode. Not sure why as the 60CSx doesn't.

  5. And you've replied THREE times with absolutely zero help! Figured it out, zero thanks to you. It needed to be in USB MASS STORAGE mode. Not sure why as the 60CSx doesn't.
  6. So, Gitchee, now that you've been informed twice of my browser, once BEFORE your post, what's your answer other than pointing out that I asked in more than one place?
  7. And you've replied THREE times with absolutely zero help!
  8. Then LINK it please. Your other response didn't help because you didn't even know what browser I'm running despite me posting it. I DID search and didn't find anything specific to my issue. And, yes, asking in multiple places very often yields more answers, more quickly. Go search "Oregon 600" in the "How do I..." section and there isn't ONE single hit on problems with sending a cache directly.
  9. Thanks, but per my original post, I'm running the latest version of Firefox as my browser. The Oregon 600 is detected just fine and shows up in the list, but when I click "write", it tells me either it does not support the items or the Garmin communicator plug in needs to be upgraded. Again, according to Garmin via the link provided right there, I have the latest version. Frustrating since it worked with my old 60CSx just fine before trying the Oregon 600. Garmin communicator version 4.1.0.0. is what's installed.
  10. I tried sending some caches directly to my Oregon 600 from geochacing.com and it tells me that my unit not compatible (I call BS) or that my plugin needs updating. According to Garmin, I have the latest plugin. I was able to send caches just fine to my old 60CSx. I'm running the latest version of Firefox and my Oregon 600 is running the latest 3.80 firmware. I've searched and haven't been able to find anything. I've removed/reinstalled the Garmin communicator and USB drivers. Nothing works. Thanks!

  13. Or since I just got it this month, I got the newest batch with possible hardware updates or something. Who knows. Garmin has been known, more than once, to make hardware changes during production and not make it public. SiRF to MTK chip in the 60CSx, different touchscreens on the original Oregons, etc. I bought mine from LL Bean, in case anyone wonders/cares...
  14. Hate to say it, but it just sounds like you've had defective units. Mine has never locked up and been very stable. I updated it to 3.70 right out of the box and then to 3.80 as soon as it was available. No problems with either version. Oh, one nice thing about 3.80... If you've "acquired" the CNNA street maps via alternate means, they now work fine.
  15. Thanks for the suggestion to drag/drop the file manually on to the unit. That worked. Installed and booted up fine into V3.80. I downloaded the file via Firefox with no issues. I bookmarked that page for the next update, which I'm sure will be right around the corner...
  16. Yes. As I said a couple of posts up, Webupdated downloaded the file and then immediately said it was corrupted and that my Oregon 600 was not updated.
  17. Yes, my Oregon 600 runs fine on V7.30 and I just took it on a long trip, so it really got some exercise in use. Not a single problem, lock-up, etc. I'm just running TOPO US 2008 and a couple of state's worth of detail maps from gpsfiledepot. Don't have CNNT NA on it...yet...
  18. Ah, okay...so that's why they wouldn't work... Oh well, like always, someone will come up with a work-around soon enough.
  19. Wow, they sure do shotgun out the updates. I had Garmin Express V2.4.5, so I just updated it to V2.5.4, which is even newer than your version, and it still won't recognize my Oregon 600 (PC with Windows 7). I just went through this with my old StreetPilot 2727 and trying to install City Navigator NA 2014.40. Garmin Express wouldn't recognize it either and told me to download Mapupdater, which I did last Friday. Mapupdater always encountered an error, so I called Garmin this past Wednesday. Turns out in those 4-5 days they'd released yet another new version of Mapupdater and it did the install on my 2720.
  20. Just tried Mapupdater and that didn't work either. It said it downloaded the file and I even got a "transfer complete" screen on the Oregon 600, but the firmware still says V3.70.
  21. Just tried to update via Garmin Express and it said my Oregon 600 wasn't supported. Webupdater said the 3.80 file was corrupted after it downloaded and, thankfully, my unit wasn't updated. Anyone else experience this?
  22. How exactly did you get "burned" by V3.70? I just got an Oregon 600 and immediately updated it to V3.70. Took it on a road trip from central Arizona to northern Utah last weekend and I didn't have a single hiccup. It was on a tour bus, so I had a LOT of time to get intimately familiar with the unit.
