  1. So, I'll be on a cruise in January '24 and one of our stops will be on a private island owned by NCL. Obviously, I wouldn't be able to maintain a cache placed, but what about placing a virtual there that doesn't require any maintenance. What are your thoughts on this?
  2. Just make sure that after you download GPS Status and Toolbar, that when you take the coords from that, that first you have your phones GPS actually turned on and second, that you approach the cache location from 3 or 4 different directions and average those coords for your final coords.
  3. I just bought a Magellan Explorist 510 and I am having fun getting used to it. I have always used my android in the past while caching. I have been spoiled by "Lois" (name given to the female voice on Google Navigation) who gave me turn by turn instructions to each cache. Without spending a ton of money or better yet "free", is there a map that any of you know of that I can download onto my gps? I have searched several of the sites that offer maps but I get overwhelmed and don't know exactly what I am looking for. Any help or suggestions from all of my fellow cachers would be greatly appreciated. THANKS! nsnoekums (Nancy S.)
  4. Hey caching buddies. I am looking to buy a Garmin Oregon 450. I haven't found any really good deals on them until now and it happens to come from a place in China/Hongkong. www.over-wholesale.com. $211.00 plus free shipping, factory sealed, etc.... Would you trust this or no? I would consider buying used if I could find a decent one for the right price. Let me know what you think. Thanks! nsnoekums Nancy Snoek Michigan
  5. I started out right away caching with my smartphone and the geocaching app. I must be really rough while I cache because my phone is really taking a beating. I've received money for Mother's Day. If I were to buy an actual GPS unit to cache with, would I be able to post my found logs directly to the website like I do with my phone or would I need to wait til I get back home and do them all at home later? I am clueless. Any ideas?
  6. One of my goals in geocaching is to eventually find a cache (or two) in each county of Michigan, which is where I live. When I plan my caching adventures it is fun to go into areas I haven't cached before. When I look at the map, I get frustrated because it is hard to tell what caches are in which counties because there are not county lines on our beta map. I usually end up pulling out different maps of my own to try and figure this out. How hard would it be to add this feature onto our beta map?
  7. This is a neat idea I have thought about too. It would be fun to have these new caches show up for a week and then convert to the normal looking cache icon.
