  1. But is is CANADA related. No? I'd like to see the thread stay here.
  2. ROT 13 Guvf vf gur fgnaqneq pbqr sbe rapelcgvat uvagf va Trbpnpuvat.
  3. For what it is worth... Canada (ALL OF IT) along with the routing data fits onto a 512MB card. Now that is unreal.
  4. In a few weeks, caching maye be all that the Blackberry is good for in the US.:D:D

    Gc.com Maps

Point taken. However, if your on a cache page and go to google maps, the information is much more detailed and usable than the GC.com maps. IMO. I guess I don't really care about the caches I have found, only the ones I need to find. If you are that into seeing your finds then just do a gpx PQ and drag and drop in google earth. Simple and much more informative.

    Gc.com Maps

Since the google map link works so well and much better than the GC.com mpas - no offense. Could you not get rid of the GC.com map feature and take a load off the server?

  8. I thought about this some more and would it be safe to say, by your definition, that geocaching should not be about finding as well. So in essence we should just be hiding boxes of stuff and not finding them. Why argue meaningless semantics when the answer you were looking for is right here? His statement bugged me is all. Sorry for inconveniencing your time.
  9. wow, my head hurts. GC.com has some good lawyers to help cover themselves in case of something bad happening. Reviewer it is.
  10. Oh and put those iPod's you have in the background into the ammo can and label them FTF>
  11. Is there an ETA for upgrading the forum software? Best guess would be cool. Funny thing is, this forum is the only forum I search for information. Google is good, but it's always a hodge podge of info. mrking **EDIT: Had to spell check "Hodge Podge" What, no 'embarased' icon?
  12. I thought about this some more and would it be safe to say, by your definition, that geocaching should not be about finding as well. geo= the world caching= 1. A hiding place used especially for storing provisions. 2. A place for concealment and safekeeping, as of valuables. 3. A store of goods or valuables concealed in a hiding place: maintained a cache of food in case of emergencies. So in essence we should just be hiding boxes of stuff and not finding them.
  13. Thanks, but it doesn't work. I try to make a symbol for a greek letter (upside down L) Greek capital letter gamma... (entity)Γ (Decimal)Γ (Hex) Γ but it just gives me a capital G insead. Ideas? **EDIT** it seems to work with the decmial version on the forum pages, however when I do it on a cache page, it gets converted. I can't link to it as my cache has not been approved yet.
  14. We have FF1.0.7 and it wasn't broken. It worked fine until your latest "Updates". Why should we need to update when our browser works with ALL the other sites we go to? Thanks, but no thanks! John Because the code in FF1.0.7 sucks. Why would FF issue an update if it was perfect. Get a grip!
  15. The mose intriguing thing I came across was an old style truck, abondoned about 3km up a trail that would be considered 'walking only'. No idea how it got there. Parked Truck
  16. Hey, I am creating a puzzle cache that I am useing some unique text characters for clues. Currently I have to make them jpg's as the description does not allow for unicode. It wold be much better to have the characters in "text" format for the finder to cut and post into google. Is there a wasy to force unicode characters on web pages? Mike

Well, the cache is in place and the listing submitted. In the end it turned out to be a puzzle cache, so start scratching those head. Keep those PQ going to see when it is available. mrking
  18. Ah ok. Given your definition there is no insentive to find. Hmmm, but I can deal with that . But really, then, what is the point? Who cares if you waymark a McDonalds in your area? I thought there was more to this. Something that actually made it interesting, like geocaching, but mostly it is a sorta POI database. Am I missing something?
  19. I live in Vancouver, Canada and can't do search by postal code. Ok, so I do a different search and the closest waymark is in New York There has to be some MAJOR work done to this Waymarking stuff IMO. Oh, and can you release the Canadian Benchmark Database and organize it by province please. Thanks...
  20. VOTE here for SPACES between LOGS. Thank you.
  21. What mapping software are you using with your emap? Mapsource? The best feature in GSAK is filtering caches a certain distance on a specific route. So if you know you are going from you home to walkmark in the next city, gointo your map/routing software, plot the route, export a .mps file, go into gsak filters 'arc/poly', import the mps file, give a distance from that route and bingo, it lists all the caches along that route. Very nice. If you need more clarification on it I'll be more than happy to help you out. Better yet, read this post... HERE. The second method is the one I am talking about. Mike
  22. You could look into using GSAK. Load your PQ into GSAK and apply a filter to the data that limits how many caches show up. For example, only show caches with a 2 difficulty and a terrain difficulty of 2. that should eliminate some of them. Keep applying various filter you want and bob is your uncle. Honestly, though, do you think you'll go through 500 caches anytime soon?
  23. It would be nice to have each province as a sub category for Canadian Benchmarks
