  1. In my case caching will probably end when I have done all the caches on the island. Jersey CI has 230 caches in a 9x5mile area, but you have to travel to a different country to do any more. If I am on holiday the kids come first, caching is probably not in the top 10 (even alcohol beats it)!
  2. Please let me know if there are any in Jersey and Guernsey with UK as the country. Couldn't find any when I looked. None in Jersey - I have checked Google Maps against my PQ for Jersey.
  3. Longevity mainly - a solid object will last longer than a solid object with a tag attached. Still thinking of ideas - a wood object with the tracking details burned in... A CD with a printed cover (think of the fun making the CD content...)
  4. After reading 'Snoogans' Tb Longevity Clinic' I wondered if I could make my own TB, copy the code off of a dog tag I have and send it on its way? Any thoughts or ideas?
  5. Can we please have single sign on between the main site and the forum? Also I agree with the masses that the maps are not better until we can filter out finds and caches. I would also like the ability to turn smileys on or off. A pony for christmas would also be nice.
  6. Jersey is a small island off of the coast of France but with long standing alliegance to The Crown (The UK Monarchy). If you want to know more visit www.jersey.com Jersey is 9 miles long by 5 miles wide, and has 100,000 inhabitants. Approx coords N 49° 13.302 W 002° 06.954 (http://coord.info/GC1XQTJ) Jersey has 219 GeoCaches (and 2 from another site!) ALL of Jersey's GeoCaches have been found this year - as tonight myself and Big_Bean found the last remaining cache that had been unfound for 18 months. http://coord.info/GC1BJT4 Come to Jersey - the caching scene is brilliant! (no real reason for the post other than I am very chuffed to have found this last cache and wanted to share how great Jersey is!)
  7. I also have a desire, and have found for caching that is just as accurate as my caching buddy's garmin e-trex. Main difference being I can check online logs and have the niceties of a GUI. He never runs out of batteries half way through the night. The only time I have done a whole day caching I took a little laptop to charge off at lunchtime!
  8. Have you considered a smartphone? I do all my caching on a HTC Desire - and Google do a free turn-by-turn satnav for it. Phone, email, satnav, mobile Internet, Caching, tide tables, the list goes on. All the eggs in one basket of course and battery issues, but suits me perfectly.
  9. Oooh, must have misread! Good job I dont have one of those yet!
  10. I am fairly new at this but as far as I can observe from the rules you can part bury the cache so long as you do need to dig to retrieve it. I have heard of pieces of trash glued to a container that is buried so all that remains above ground is the trash - legal as far as I know. Someone will dig out the rulebook no doubt, I think the wording is 'dig or require sharp tools'. So to answer your question - no.
  11. The trouble with the stereogram in the cache linked to above is that it has been set to a very shallow depth - the numbers do not pop out very far, and so are harder to read than they could be. Quite often looking at these things you can see the largest depth first and the rest follows, so a larger depth makes for an easier stereogram. But then again it's not always supposed to be easy!
  12. I only have a small environment to cache in (Island of 9 miles by 5 miles ) so extra micro's or nano's in (the only) town are great! It helps extend the game for a few more months. But everything in its place, I too prefer a small / med / large container if it can be hidden.
  13. Oh, and the GPS does not work in airoplane mode, but you can turn the mobile off and GPS on. I know this is no longer an issue but for others it may help.
  14. Get an App (I use cachemate on 'droid) and pre-load all the caches in the area you are going to. Get there, centre your app and look for the nearest. Simples
  15. Fell off my bike and broke my ankle - on the way to a cache not actually looking for it. Then get my niece hooked and she broke her wrist walking through some woods. Maybe my family should not cache
  16. I want to hide some caches with my caching buddy, and it would be nice to have us both appear as the owners. Can you do this? If so - how??
  17. I want to place a small (6-10 cache) series around the town I live for 'lunchtime cachers' (people who work in town and want to find a small multi or trad cache in their lunch break). I would like them to appear staggered (ie not all appear in one day), but also have a bonus (clues for the bonus to be hidden in each cache). I need to have the bonus in place and the spot reserved, so it should be placed first, right? But then it can not be got until all the others are placed - up to a month later! What to do?
  18. In 2008 Deleting a cartridge was 'coming soon' - can we do this yet because I cannot see where to!
  19. I recently picked up an item which is a bit like a dog tag crossed with a business card - it has 'pse move me on' in silver ink and a number 2. It is not trackable, and like a business card is covered in contact details and company website info. It is quite substantial so it is not going to degrade like a business card. So is it advertising or just fun? Should I email the bloke? What is the protocol?
  20. You always have to know where your towel is. After a recent 'incident' I now carry a first aid kit!
  21. Oh yes, most definately built with Builder. I started this one on Builder and thought I should see it through, however I may just finish it on Earwigo now! Thanks greatly for your help, most of the people around here use Garmins, I may have to publish 2 versions, one for PPC and one for Garmin!
  22. Hi matejcik, I was hoping you would pick up on this! Here is the test lua code zipped (amazing we cannot upload a .lua file!) There is one zone and one item, when you hit the command 'drop' it should tell you if you are in the zone, in proximity or otherwise. In and Out of the zone work but proximity does not. Thanks for your help. BlackDogTest2.zip
  23. Have started a new topic for this one. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=255418
  24. Oh god, solve one issue and another rears its ugly head! So now the players are OnProximity to a zone to see items. I want to have objects that commands work only in certain zones, so I use an If command on the objects action: In the zone (if zone contains player) works. Proximity to the zone (if the player is within proximity to the zone) does not. This is the same on the emulator and the PPC (WherYouGo Android) that I have tried! Any reasons or answers? (no wonder people give up on building these things!!!)
