  1. I use it on a regular basis on my Colorado. Once I start getting close to the cache I switch over to the compass. Too me it is easier to figure where you are with the compass when you are within about 30 or so feet of the cache. I would assume you can use the compass on the 60 series the same way.
  2. Similar to Pelican containers there are also ones from OtterBox which are slightly less expensive.
  3. As simple of a design I really love this one!
  4. Ahh I believe I saw your VW bug at the past GeoJamboree. Looked great!
  5. For being a beta this is a great start! I found a few things I dont like but all in all it isn't half bad for a beta version. I don't like not being able to have my favorites in folders at the top and links bottom in the bookmarks, i do like the bookmark bar. The speed is great! I dont like the the fact the it really keeps a good list of history if you dont use incognito. Seems like a security issue to me if comp is used by multiple users.
  6. Very nice design! 1.) Antique Gold 2.) Antique Copper 3.) Antique Silver To me the gold and copper just really have a nice "old" look to them for this coin.
  7. I actually just did a cache last week that had a match stick container tied to a string and hoisted up over a branch way up. The string was tied out of sight on a lower branch so you had to untie it let it down.
  8. Welcome to the fun and addiction! Happy caching!
  9. Definately Otter Box. I purchased one of their cases for my iPhone and it is waterproof and just an all around sturdy case. Their containers are the same, sturdy, waterproof to 100feet!
  10. I've tinkered around quite a bit with my iPhone (original) and no go there. Total different system. As far as I know that goes the same with the new 3G. It's a mobile version of Google Earth.
  11. I've been using mine for a few months no and love. As with any GPS they all have their glitches and learning curves but so far I am happy. Just make sure if you get it that you upgrade the software right away to the most current which right now i think is 2.54. It gets rid of most of the annoying little bugs. I can say once I have done all the updates the only thing I dont like about my Colorado is the fact that I have to adjust the backlight everytime I turn it on. No biggie but just one of those little annoying glitches. All in all I am very happy with mine! Hope this helps.
  12. You can do it just like this one: GCVR74 I still havent done this cache but this is a real cool idea!
  13. They look good! Funny thing I just thought about...my PO zip code is 08080. Huh. lol
  14. Use either a Pelican case or an Otter Box. Just google either of those and you will come up with tons of resources for them. A little pricey but they are made for being submerged.
  15. I dont think the change in format will make the difference. If you are under tree cover you will definately run into where the gps signal "bounces" around and one second you could be 5 feet away then all of a sudden without moving you are 30 feet away. It's something you have to get used to and when you do you will be able to judge it a little better.
  16. I am using Energizer 2500mah rechargeables in my Colorado and I have no battery issues. Lasts me quite a long time!
  17. When I was doing business to business sales I traveled all over the country for weeks at a time by myself. Was great for caching since lots of driving.
  18. Just use all-weather paper logs. I use it myself and it is great. Use a ball point pen and you can write on it even if it is wet, doesnt smear or anything. I swear by the stuff and will not put a cache out without using it.
  19. So I am sitting at the picnic table on Saturday at the GeoJamboree and I look down to my right and there is an envelope with my name on it. I open it up and low and behold there is a wishing coin in there. Someone was slick sitting it next to me when I wasn't looking. Whoever it was, Thank you very much. That is the first mystery coin I have ever received or even seen in person!

Welcome to the fun! Do what Miragee said until you get the cable and you will be fine.
  21. It's definately the map. I installed the topo and the streets maps and it is point on, switch to the base map and it is way off. My only issue right now is that if I am walking towards a Geocache, it shows that I am walking in the opposite direction of it if you go by the compass arrow or the pointer and line on the map. Though all the ETA and Dist. till end get closer and closer. Very strange.
  22. I dont believe there is any difference in that aspect. Most of the differences are in the screen size, whether it has bluetooth or not, traffic updates and a lots of other little odds and ends. I think if you go to the garmin website you can compare models side by side.
