  1. When you enter the code word, it is logged. That can only be done from the web page found at the URL provided. There are no Field Notes and no Comments, just a Found It Message when logged. If you are getting the test page, you are on your own Lab Cache. You can only log it from a different account. oops...oh well. thx
  2. Thought so...any idea how to 'reset' or otherwise take another stab at this? Though, seems pointless anyhow, as she was the one I wanted to find it in the first place, not another cacher...thx for reply.
  3. I made our lab cache for my team-partner, hence the 'CO' and 'finder' are the same team name. Can we still log it somehow?
  4. Dumbest question ever, but: how do we log this? Tried using GSAK to push it to the Oregon, log it found there, and then jack the Oregon into the PC to access field notes...not there. Pushed it over to the Nook using the url, and only getting the test page, same as on the PC. thx
  5. What should be expected of CO when he is told via logs and a 'Maintenance Needed' attribute that TBs listed in his cache are not there? Has been logged thus for several months, but his reply is 'There is nothing wrong with the cache, re-setting', and removes the wrench icon.
  6. Hi...we are looking for fellow FedEx employees, to comat TBs to and generally connect with. After 1030, send a message. Jim
  7. I hope the logs show up, but since when has a PQ taken so long to come back? Over an hour to hit my inbox, for about a week now? At home in NJ and on vacation in Montreal?
  8. Thanks all for your replies; now that my first hides have been published, I see the available filtering. I run my PQs thru GSAK anywho, so it really was a non-issue; I just wanted to see what the conventional ettiquette was, and I will not be 'finding' my hides...kinda like hiding one's own Easter eggs, what? 'An untempted woman cannot boast of her chastity.' -- Michel de Montaigne
  9. Nope, none. No rash, no swelling, no hives or boils. I'm good I think. Thanks for asking though. Most cachers I know would not log that as a find. Around here that would, as TWU says, get you talked about and laughed at behind your back. Heck, maybe to your face. Nope, none. No rash, no swelling, no hives or boils. I'm good I think. Thanks for asking though. Bwahahaha that's funny!
  10. So, what do I do when reviewing my area for my non-finds, and my hides come up? While I am at it, why do events show as findable when they were just meet-n-greets. and the event is over without any physical caches left there, or at least none under the event name?
  11. Hi all...I've been paperless for some time now, using PDA with CacheMate and GPSr, running thru GSAK. Just lost PDA. Any way to use Garmin 60CSx to hold BOTH waypoints AND the CacheMate stuff like description, TB's, hint, past logs etc? I've never had luck with using the 60's Mass Memory or whatever that feature is, as I get antsy around the manual and want to go out and play....thx
  12. Thx, I will try holding upright...though anything a few degrees off level and I get 'Hold Level' blip on the screen. And, since this was designed to get wet, it has been the one piece of electronics I own besides my desktop PC that has stayed dry.
  13. To jump on here...I've had a 60csx for over two years, about the same time I got into kayaking and needed better water resistance than my plain yellow eTrex offered. I like the fact that I can see both 'distance' to a cache and 'accuracy' of the read on one screen (must toggle to see both on eTrex), but the accuracy is CONSTANTLY worse on the 60, often in triple-digits when the little yellow is at 15 feet. Software updated, Garmin 'Topo US' loaded, but unit still balky imho. Am I expecting too much, have I dropped it too often, or is my eTrex really that good?
  14. Yup, Mobi was a pain, with 'cut/paste/go to hints' and all...but it was all we knew at the beginning! CacheMate is SOOO much easier. I use it with GSAK right now, and I hope to be able to use it with some other app if we dont opt to keep GSAK. The one neat thing in Mobi was it put games on my Palm PDA (which I only use for caching), so it kept the wee ones busy as we cried from the brambles, "Just five more minutes!"
  15. thx mama...I don't hit the forums much; I figure the stuff we need to know will come over in the updates. I find CacheMate to be a lot easier, worth the eight bucks, which I can recoup with a little CITO in a state that does bottle/can deposits. Anyone here wanna go to Maine with me?
  16. I thought I was having a senior moment, too, when I noticed no eBook option on PQ screen...reviewed some of my old PQs, no option there either...cue the 'Twilight Zone' music...but, as you see in the threads, it just went away. I now have CacheMate and a trial version of GSAK; the coolest thing I see w/ GSAK over EasyGPS is the ability to get waypoints in something memorable instead of babble: 'Down By the Bay' loads in my Garmin now as something like 'DNBYBAY' instead of 'GCXXXX'.
  17. Thought I was having a really serious senior moment when I couldn't find the eBook link on PQ screen too! Why get updates on caches in Botswana and newspaper articles in the Daily Fudgepop, but no big blinking UPDATE!!! to let us know this feature was going away? (PS, switched to GSAK and CacheMate; not free, not so sure its worth the coin yet, but they DO seem better, so from lemons may have come lemonade)
  18. [welcome. same rig we just upgraded to, mostly to go with the kayaks, as this is billed as more water-ready than most. Our 5-year-old eTrex still gets downloaded every time, too; the 'getting out there' is at least as critical as what you take. We have a MioMap device for the car, but when our birthdays comes around we are going to give one another the mapping SD cards for the new Garmin. Get a cheapo PDA and go paperless!
  19. Now, I'm the first guy to laugh at a cache titled 'Are You A Number Ho?', even as I might have to creatively explain it to a 10-yr old...but am I the only one who has a problem with 'Dyslexics of the Wolrd Untie! ' and the oh-so-cute mis-spellings therein? Racy is one thing; out-and-out mockery another.
  20. Thanks all, Peter especially -- I've stumbled onto USAPhotoMaps before, but find the topo views limited in the amount of zoom it allows.
  21. Became a member, copped a cheap PDA on eBay, now totally paperless...but what is it I see so often on cache galleries as a 'track'? (For example, since it only has three pics in the gallery, see 'The Pen Exchange') If this is purchased mapping software, any recommendations? If free download, again: any tips? Got all the cables, laptop, etc... running with basic yellow eTrex.
  22. I've always used my eTrex default lat/lon setting of : hddd (degree symbol) mm.mmm' and its worked fine, downloading thru EasyGPS and going off to cache. Now that I've loaded GoogleEarth and 'flown over' some known caches, I can't get their lat/lon grid overlays to match up. Google offers only 'Degree Minute Second' or just 'Degree' as settings, and I CAN match up the eTrex optional setting of hddd(degree symbol)ddddd with the Google 'Degree' setting...but that isn't how the Geocache pages are formatted. Is there any drawback to leaving eTrex on that optional setting, other than feeling 'left out' of the cache community? Thx
  23. OK, so eTrex (and spouse) behaving normally after all; thanks, guys.
  24. Hi...I'm batting .333 here in the snow, and even though I think this will get easier in the spring, I have a question re: my new eTrex: I cruise toward the waypoint using the "GoTo" screen, which gives me a compass, arrow pointer, and distance-to-go indicator. All's well up until the last 20 feet or so, whereupon the arrow dances, the distance drops and climbs in a 15-25 foor range, without me even moving! I've looked up expecting to see satellites bouncing into one another! Did I get a lemon (sorry, it IS yellow...)or is this just within the degredation factor for civilian use? If normal, how do you cache veterans go about searching a 40-foot radius with a rather-disinterested spouse in tow? Thx.
