  1. I find it funny that ashinkes is posting like mad on that forum but not this one... Doesn't make sense... I thought he quit geocaching!

I don't think he has permission to post here. What with having been banned and all.

  2.

cool I didn't see this feature!

bare in mind that most CO may not know about it and may not have edited their listing to add it

I hadn't seen that attribute either. It seems like it would be a good attribute for power trails rather than use that requires scuba hack that was used on the E.T.

I really think that if the power trails are being allowed they should have their own attribute icon.

  3. you know youre addicted when>>>>>

You start a "you know you are addicted when" thread.

ya i think its interesting to know what people are thinking about when there not physically geocaching but somehow there minds still are. its funny to hear the responses.

Do you spend a lot of time on facebook or do you twitter much?

i have twitter and facebook. i dont go on facebook much unless i get an email saying i have a message or somthing from there. i have been going more onto twitter. On twitter i am n1ntndo and in facebook i have 2 accounts. just out of curousity why were you asking. do you have either of them

Hmm, no. I am not one of those who enjoy the constant bombardment of peoples every thought sent to me electronically. I'd rather talk on the phone than text and I prefer the call to be short and to the point. Leaves more to talk about when my friends and I get together over a beer or three.

I only asked because of your comment.

  5. More of us are spending more time over there so these 'Hey, it ain't working for me' reports aren't likely to sit for a month. Additionally after the everyone pops in with an idea they've been sitting on for a while, the initial flood of reports should decrease and common requests will start to gel together.

    At least I hope so.

you see the glass half full and i see it half empty

    we'll see who's right

I saw that glass. The only thing I could think of was "Yuck! What is in that glass?"

  6. I'm not a big fan of these types of hides. I just don't understand the enjoyment a co gets from getting folks to spend Lord knows how long tryine to find the right container. It seems a bit sadistic. Of course I understand the fun some folks claim they have finding these even less. That just seems masochistic.

The couple of times I've had the "pleasure" of finding these types, I put the can with the log sheet in it back at the top of the larger container, making it easier for the next finder.

i do the opposite, making it easier is not the intention of the CO, if it was he would have put just one container out

I just add it to my ignore list. Although I have been tempted to trade out all the excess film cans. They aren't swag? Well huh.

  7. What I don't understand is why isn't the OP just giving us what was written verbatim in the retraction message along with cache description, etc.

I don't mean to be rude, but OP has been active enough on this thread whilst on vacation, responding to various questions within the thread but not giving out the pertinent info rather wanting the speculation to mount?

It just seems to be a little strange to me.

I know nothing the thread says is really going to change the reviewers mind. I am just curious as to what prompted the retraction with so much "wrong with it"

And Nymphsatyr's comment of perhaps the wrong cache was retracted does make a little sense, but again without anything to really go on we are just as confused as OP.

What I don't understand is why the OP didn't start by asking the reviewer for an explanation. Seems to me like the smart thing to do.

  8. Hi,

There is a cache in my area, named Chosen Hill, which seems as if it is not being maintained. It was placed on 08/03/2002, by a very active cacher, who has sadly passed away, the cache was then adopted by a new owner.

The cache has been found by over 240 cachers, and was my first ever find, therefore I do not want it to be archived.

There have been need maintenance logs for over a year now, mostly due to a filling log book. I visited this cache in January of this year to place a TB, and at that time the log book was totally full, apart from the back page, since then there have been numerous "Needs maintenance" logs, and other comments about the log book, with no response from the cache owner.

    The CO logs in regularly.

What do you guys think about this? I would be happy to adopt the cache to keep it running, if this is the case, how would I go about it? I have placed caches before, but never adopted them.

    Thanks

You need to contact the cache owner. They have to give their blessing to the adoption.

  9. As a cache I agree, not the best idea. As a TB I think it's a fun idea. I have been thinking about doing this myself, since USB drives are very cheap these days. Check out this USB Drive TB. It's been out there for about 3 years, and from the logs it seems to be doing fine.

I'm still not gonna stick that in my computer. Would anything happen if I did? Probably not. But if I don't plug it in nothing can happen.
