  1. Well, we got a great response to this topic, from a great bunch of Cachers, here and in email. "Thank you!" to all the well wishers and "Thanks so much!" to LLOT, JohnandJess, and rayjimmy for adopting their fav's. I have to say... I didn't expect giving these away to feel as sad as it does. We have really enjoyed all the great feedback and enthusiastic logs. And even though we are excited about moving to the northern Bay area, San Diego county will always feel like home thanks to Geocaching and all of you San Diego Geocachers. We have one last hide that needs someone to look after it; RB Bug Launcher. LLOT has offered to take this one as well, if no one else wants to. Any takers?
  2. I can adopt these two. Just around the bend from me. Ray Great! These are fun micros too. They should be easy to care for. Standby for adoption requests... Thanks
  3. Here's the count: GCQQMW RB Bug Launcher GCTDGD Innovative Science GCQJ3G Pumphouse Posthole GCMJT1 TopDog (LLOT kindly adopted this hide) GCMY3K Hodges Micro 1 (John&Jess opted for these two) GCMY3N Hodges Micro 2 (John&Jess) Thanks again.
  4. Excellent! Ya know... I think you guys were FTF on most of these. The two Hodges hides are good ones and climberX also looks in on them once in a while. ...kind of his job. I'll send the adoption request right away. Thanks
  5. Sorry to hear that you are leaving us. I've enjoyed your caches. I'm willing to adopt TopDog (it's the closest one to where I live...) If there are no other takers, I'd also be willing to adopt Bug Launcher, Innovative Science and/or Pumphouse Posthole. Sounds great! ...glad to hear that you like these. I'm checking out the link above, to see what I need to do.
  6. Thanks! I knew one of "you's" would know what to do.
  7. Hmmmm. I thought this topic would post to the San Diego thread. ....newbie to the forums. In case you are wondering, these caches are in the San Diego area.
  8. Hey all! RB Family is moving out of the area and we want to offer a few of our more popular caches for adoption. If any of you think these should be gathered up and archived instead, let us know. We do intend to archive four of ours, (not listed below) because they are so maintenance intensive or because we have reservations about continuing them where they are. But the six caches below, have generated a lot of positive feedback, so if any of you would be willing to care for them as your own, please let us know. Here's the list: GCQQMW Bug Launcher GCTDGD Innovative Science GCQJ3G Pumphouse Posthole GCMJT1 TopDog GCMY3K Hodges Micro 1 GCMY3N Hodges Micro 2 The Hodges pair are placed in the San Dieguito River Park, with permission and comply with all park rules concerning Geocache placement. Most of you (SD usual suspects...) have visited these and will probably remember them. I'm not sure what the process of transferring ownership is, so if any of you know the easy way to do this, we would appreciate your help.
  9. Living in Rancho Bernardo and enjoying this hobby as a family more often than not, "RB Family" seemed to make sense. Besides, when we set up our GC account, wit and cleverness were no where to be found. Oh well, it works for now. But if we move... not sure what we'll choose. The Kokopele is just something we like too, so it went into the logo and avatar. Nice thread idea.
  10. Hang in there Bikedog! Lord, hear us now...
  11. The latest cache that I was fortunate enough to help with was the "Homer #1 Poway" cache. (GCPE8M) The log was a soaked roll, so I put more paper in a small zip-loc with a golf pencil, and added it to the container. There are many others that got a new pencil or some cool new trade items without anything taken, while I or we were there, but this last one sticks out right now. Here are some things I have at the ready while on the hunt, to help maintain a cache: - Small Ziploc baggies - Golf Pencils - Rolls of calculator paper, for replacement micro logs - Superglue, for magnets, etc. - Black electrical tape - Black Sharpie - Bicycling Multi-Tool I figure, every cache has it's own wear and tear issues, but if even a few of us do something to extend its longevity, we all benefit. Nothing too heroic, just a nice thing to do.
  12. Where are your conferences going to be held? How far are you up to traveling once you are here?
  13. This little guy seemed fearless, out on Point Loma. He guards Azure Vista.
  14. A friend up the street took us on a hunt back in 2003. We thought this was an interesting "game" but would not catch the bug for months. When we mentioned geocaching to the inlaws in 2004, they took note and presented us with an eXplorist 100, for Christmas. It has served us well for more than a year now, but this Christmas, we moved up to an eXplorist 500, with geocaching software. So... no more fat-fingering all those coords in, manually. And then as if the hunt was not enough thrill seeking, we discovered the fun of hiding a cache and watching all of you come find it! Great fun!
  15. Balboa Park Yowza! across from the Veteran's Museum ... but you didn't honk. Hey Cowboy....honk if you want a San Diego Geocoin! (New to the forums...) Honk Honk! We definitely want one or two of those great coins. Tell me how...
