  1. I'm not wure why you would WANT to remove it unless it was damaged. My understanding is that you simply rewet it with the solution to remove it. I'm guessing you would have to lift it a little to get the solution under it and continue to wet it as you lift.
  2. It's my understanding that internally the 60CSx and the 76CSx are identical. If one has an issue, so will the other. Correct me if I am wrong anybody.
  3. I would say it's worth it, thats not much more than a explorist 200 at walmart for $120 and the venture CX has a micro SD card slot for maps, and a USB connector for connecting to your pc. I'm pretty happy with my recent purchase, and I spent $200. It has an altimeter, compass, and color display. If you're going to use it a lot why skimp. I'm trying to figure the USB connection thing as we speak, if you want to do a lot of geocaching the computer compatibility could be a big help. I didn't know that a Venture Cx had an altimeter or a compass. Are you thinking of a Vista Cx?
  4. Which Garmins don't come with a cable other than the Venture? Edited for spelling.
  5. Alleged? Do you know the definition of alleged? The definition is: "To assert without or before proof." I put a proof source on my post, but you were too lazy to check it out. What I stated was fact, it was not alleged. Here is an example: SanDisk 2GB MicroSD from "Straight Trading, Inc." via Amazon. $24.69 before shipping. Shipping charge is $6.95, which is 28.15% of the cost of the MicroSD Card. Here is another example: SanDisk 2GB MicroSD from "Tech4bargains" via Amazon. $26.95 before shipping. Shipping charge is $7.49, which is 27.79% of the cost of the MicroSD Card. It was 10:15 PM and, no, I did not get out my dictionary (which you obviously did). I am sincerely sorry if I hurt your feelings. However, when do you EVER see a shipping charge of less than $5.00 anymore? Jeez, considering the point that these cards were $80.00+the dreaded shipping (which would still be the quoted charges listed above) within the last couple of months, I still believe that it is an incredible bargin.
  6. Correct, that is a Mini SD card. But Amazon does have the microSD cards from third party sellers. If you click on on the "New or Used" link it will show you all of the sellers and allow you to check the shipping charges and the sellers rating. Considering these cards were selling for about $80 a month ago, it's still a bargin at $25 and the alleged "25%" shipping charge.
  7. I can't figure out how to download them for GPS use.
  8. Amazon had a Sandisk 2GB micro for $23.60 this morning.
  9. It could be the camera. You could try transfering the images with a card reader instead of connecting the whole camera to your computer. That's how I do it with my Nikon D2X at work. I would say your best bet is to replace your HP with a camera made by a real camera manufacturer. You can't go wrong with Nikon, Canon, Olympus or Fuji. I would look for one that is water resistant if you plan to cache with it a lot. Olympus has made rugged cameras in the past. Good luck.
  10. Which "Cx" are you referring too? Is it a Legend Cx, a Vista Cx, a 60Cx or a 76Cx?
  11. I didn't think you could lose the basemap. Isn't it burned into the units eprom or something like that?
  12. Forgive my lack of understanding, but what do Kenwood and Garmin have to do with each other. Is Garmin making a unit for Kenwood to sell?
  13. I cannot for the life of me understand why you would buy a $350 mapping GPS unit and NOT buy maps. The local lakes and streams weren't even included on the base map of my 60CSx.
  14. I haven't noticed any HATE. I believe that people are mostly honest about their experiences. I am a Garmin owner, but I don't have any problems with any of the others nor do I have any experience to say that any other company is any better or worse. I went with Garmin mainly because it was the company that was best represented on this forum.
  15. FOXNews has shown it about ten times in the last hour alone.
  16. I certainly don't advocate that anyone rely solely on an HT or to operate without a license, but i do believe that having an HT in your backpack beats the heck out of not having a HT in your backpack. I NEVER said that he should operate without a license. Granted, there probably aren't any repeaters in the area the he is traveling, however, there may be repeaters in the NEXT area that he decides to travel in. Once he has the skills, he is ready for life. His next trip might be to a mountain top where a radio might come in very handy. Discouraging participation in the hobby is not the answer to the points mentioned above in my opinion. I do agree that survival equipment and other forms of signaling are imperative.
  17. If there are any repeaters around, it could save your life. A Tech license is easy to get with a bit of study and a test. That will give you access to VHF/UHF repeaters. Check out www.arrl.org. You can also read the Geocaching and Ham radio forum.
  18. I think I'd take a nice Ham radio too.
  19. My Invisible Shield yesterday and applied it today. Piece o' cake! I'll bet a woodchuck could chew on this thing and not cause any damage!
