  1. I'm thinking about buying a Droid in the near future and am very interested in a geocaching app to go with it but, I really don't want another "Windows"-esque piece of mediocre software full of bugs and shortcuts that was put out to the public just to satisfy the cry for a new toy NOW! That's what keeps MS releasing yet again more software that the consumer beta-tests and they "fix" until we can't stand any more. Sorry, but I grew up looking for quality, not quantity! Do it right, or don't do it!!!
  2. I live in northwest NJ. I've sent a PM to you. Let me know what you have in mind.
  3. That would be the line that reads: Event posted Here Which I just posted again in case you missed it. I hate when I do that ... !! SEE it, but don't READ it !!!! Thanks, Mark
  4. Congratulations John! Keep on chuggin' along ... 500 befor you know it!!![/font]
  5. As I get closer to the big retirement date (1/1/07) I keep looking for diversions to help me get into the proper frame of mind - - "there are lots of things to be done!". This could be a perfect start. When will this appear on the cache pages? My only regret is that I missed the first two events!!! Mark (Ramsey LtD)
  6. Congratulations TH! Hope to see you on the trail or at another NNJ event in the near future. Ramsey LtD
  7. Congrats John! I'm not sure, who's spurring whom on to cross the next hundred finds -- you or Klizich? All the best!! I'll join both of you again soon.
  8. Obviously retirement has not interfered with your caching adventure! 300 down and a bunch to go. Kudos, Kano!! Mark
  9. CONGRATULATIONS! A great milestone. I am envious! Mark
  10. CONGRATULATIONS!! Hope you have as much fun with the second hundred as you did with the first! Cacheon, Dude!!! Mark (Ramsey LtD)
  11. Klizich called me this morning with the sad news. I immediately went to the forum to read all the posts and to add my condolences to Helmut's family, and to the hundreds of friends he's made as a geocacher. I have been active in the sport for a year now and always looked forward to the adventure, and the scenery, of a Skully & Mulder hunt. I only met Helut once but consider myself fortunate for the experience. I think the idea of a geocoin in his honor is a wonderful idea and a perfect way to donate to the trust fund. I was not surprised to see that Avroair already has an event in mind for similar purpose. Those of us in NNJ will sorely miss him but know that he will hike the trails with us every time we venture out! Hemut, we know that you have now hiked the perfect trail and have found the eternal cache site. God's love to all of the Mueller family. -Mark (Ramsey LtD)
  12. Cangrats! I've heard that the first 200 are the hardest. That means all your searches will be on the downhill side of the mountain from now on!!
  13. No Floop, not yet. I've decided to wait and see -- perhaps when I get to 200!?!
  14. I am humbled by the praise! Klizich has been my best friend for many years and has encouraged many ventures over the years ... CB radio was NOT one of them, seeing as how he's been licensed as an amateur (Ham) radio operator for as long as I've known him!!! As we have both matured (because we refuse to get older) we felt the need to find new adventures to keep us active. Chasing bad guys has lost its allure after 28 years (almost 31 for Klizich before he retired!) so we decided that a return to Mother Nature and the great outdoors was in order. It was an excellent decision, in my opinion. I have met a number of great people in my first year of caching and I hope to meet a lot more in the days, months and years to come. TRL. BrianSnat and Treequest, I can but aspire to your level of involvement! I hope to meet many of my compatriots in the field, at events, or here in the etherworld. Thanks, and, "Cache on, Dude!!"
  15. 27+ years as a cop; 6+ years as a firefighter. I've been beaten, choked, kicked, lied to, burned, taken advantage of, and laughed at ... The only reason I stick around is to see what happens next!!!
  16. I have plenty of cut firewood (as in fireplace length) that I can bring along. Let me know If you want marshmellows too!
  17. I'd buy a few, and I'm Klizich would do the same. I plan to attend (& I'll ask Klizich whether he's interested). BTW, I like the adea of two different metals (or another identifier) to differentiate those who attended from those who merely bought one.
  18. I work in Bergen County and live in Sussex County. Lots of caches in these areas and lots of beautiful terrain for excellent hiking. I've only just begun!
