  1. Alas the cache I tried to drop Gabriel in had bad coords and I spent about 3 hours searching for it without success. Gabriel is back in NY and I will try to move him to the immediate south of the last cache he was in. Sorry. - Dekaner of Team KKF2A
  2. I may be intersted, the timing will be tricky. I need to circle back to Watertown anyway and pick up two caches that had bad coords. The biggest boat I piloted on my own was a 14ft aluminum we rented on Lake Oneida for J-Ra and I to hit two island caches there. - Dekaner of Team KKF2A
  3. Warning, it exists but lacks any real usability. http://www.geocaching.com/wap - Dekaner of Team KKF2A
  4. I have Gabriel (yay!) in PA and will hopefully be placing him in the next few days. - Dekaner of Team KKF2A
  5. Was on my way to PA rather unexpectedly today, so I thought I'd try and pick up a cannonballer or two to help out. Turns out strikeforce has already beaten me to all of them!! - Dekaner of Team KKF2A
  6. Windows 2000 Pro IE 5.50 Come to think of it, it has the same problem on the hide and seek a cache page. I guess I've just gotten used to pocket queries! (I'd rather have a query for benchmarks anyway!) Thanks. - Dekaner of Team KKF2A
  7. I'm not sure if it is just me, but I'm having trouble downloading the waypoints for Benchmarks. I search by zip code, scroll to the bottom and choose the 'check all' button and then try to download them, it just saves a copy of the web page, not the .loc file. Any suggestions or is this a bug? - Dekaner of Team KKF2A

  9. Nice unit for a good price. I like the larger screen for the map functionality. - Dekaner of Team KKF2A
  10. Please email us the name of the bugs in question to cannonballrun@ny-geocaching.org and we'll track them down and give an official ruling. Update: I received the list and will be sorting this out. Thanks. - Dekaner of Team KKF2A [This message was edited by Dekaner of Team KKF2A on May 05, 2003 at 08:12 AM.]
  11. Great price for a good starter unit! - Dekaner of Team KKF2A
  12. I'd like to see an official response to this. For example, we use a similar setup to pull our stats for the cannonball run. - Dekaner of Team KKF2A
  13. In regards to my bug, which was in Florida... The bug was accidentally taken to Florida, directly against it's goal. The owner did not realize it for whatever reason and soon contacted me to address the issue. Rather than place it in Florida and let it try to find it's way back to NY, the original cacher was kind enough to bring it back to NY this week. It hopefully will be on it's way to PA this weekend, but we'll see. To address if it needed to backtrack through each state, the answer is no. It just can't log any forward progress until it makes it back to NY first. To address the date it was logged in Florida, I asked the cacher to drop it and pick it back up in one of their recent caches so that I could at least get some mileage seeing as how my bug was held for a month and not making any progress towards it's goal. It's a travel bug. These things happen. - Dekaner of Team KKF2A
  14. You could come out to our May 3rd Tree Planting in Cazenovia Park, Buffalo. We're distributing CITO t-shirts, having a pot-luck BBQ and then heading out to do some 'caching afterwards. - Dekaner of Team KKF2A
  15. Ours is in conjunction with our parks department that we work very close with. (They also gave us a permit for Geocaching in all of their parks.) - Dekaner of Team KKF2A
  16. As far as the initial delay in getting bugs out of NY, I'd recommend starting next year's race a little later in the spring as more people will be out caching then and thus better movement. - Dekaner of Team KKF2A
  17. The automatic update to the stats page hit a kink that needed to be worked out. All is well now, no worries. - Dekaner of Team KKF2A
  18. Also, the official stats page went through an update tonight. Position information is now included in the table. Official Cannonball Run Site - Dekaner of Team KKF2A
  19. quote:Originally posted by LaughingGravy:team laughing gravy (renorumrunner) concurring with Gogomobile's owner - and all the other CB tb's in the clutches of Strikeforce1. Is this a 'bad cop' gone really bad? Can we get some groundrules on 'anything goes' in the Cannonball? If forward progress is limited to adjacent states - is backward progress limited the same way? and once a cacher is in possession of a racer bug - is there a time limit to placement in a cache? These questions are open to the forum - requesting feedback from any who care... My understanding of the rules is that the bug must only travel to adjacent states for forward progress. What that means for these bugs is that going backwards, it does not have to travel through PA back to NY. To get back to OH, it does not need to go back to PA either, it just can't go anywhere forward without going back through OH first. - Dekaner of Team KKF2A
  20. We've had pretty good exposure to the land managers in Western NY, and one of our goals in trying to setup our NY Geocaching group is to facilitate issues like this. Unfortunately, we haven't had a lot of exposure on the other side of the state. I'd be happy to discuss this issue further and come up with a strategy going forward to deal with these land managers. - Dekaner of Team KKF2A
  21. New York wants some. Working out the details internally, we'll get back to you soon! - Dekaner of Team KKF2A
  22. New York wants some. Working out the details internally, we'll get back to you soon! - Dekaner of Team KKF2A
  23. Is your plan to have us buy them as a group and then distribute them or to have people individually buy them? Seems like it would be cooler as a 'limited' item that you would actually have to earn! - Dekaner of Team KKF2A
  24. Recently, the Olmsted Conservancy Group that helps to maintain the parks has approached us to seek assistance in a tree planting for Cazenovia Park on the morning of Sunday, May 3rd. The Conservancy was key in supporting the 'caches in their parks and assisted us in obtaining our current park permit from the City of Buffalo. Please consider coming out to lend a hand as our way of saying 'Thank You' as well as preserving our park system. As an added bonus, I will be placing a new cache in the park for all to hunt. After the tree planting we will also be having a pot-luck style BBQ lunch. I have posted this as an event cache (GCE79C) that can be found here: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=59292 Hope to see you there! - Dekaner of Team KKF2A
