  1. Great information, but the elevation data of memory map is in a file that has the extension .qed for quad elevation data which has no file converter. Anyway you guies convinced me that ozi explorer is better and the linkes you listed got me very busy. Very interesting and amazing stuff.
  2. MTB with memory map, you can draw routes with your styles, you can scan or import maps and very easly calibrate them. If the map has a grid of latitude longintude lines, the clibration becomes very simple. I tested the coordinates after calibrating my maps, and it was deadly accurate. Unfortunatly, I found that memory map are the only source for their topo maps only after I purchased their software. One last question What is the file extension of ozi explorer elevation data. Many thanks for the usefull reply above. neo_geo the GPS type does not make a differance, memory map runs on desktop, and pocket pc.
  3. What do you think of the software, and any one can tell me where to get topo maps? Thanks
  4. Many software packages will easily calculate the distance between 2 points. In my opinion the question should be what is the new star circle (the additional angle) that the earth axis will sweep. Basicly it will be 2.5cm divided by the earth diameter(1274200000cm) at the pole. The sign of the additional angle will be 1.96 X 10 EX -9. and that whebling complete one round in I think more than 30,000 years(numbers from memory, so please correct me). In practical sense, there is no effect. Another question is the whebling accumalative, like a spinning top every time disturbed will add to the previous whebling or not. Omar
