  1. CITO! Which means Cache in, Trash out. It is a great excuse as to what you are rummaging around in the bushes for. It is sad, but not all that surprising. I'm thinking of getting some super cheap trash bags to put in our 'cache gear' to at least police the immediate area around the caches that we find and dispose of it properly.
  2. I'm very new to GC and one thing that has amazed me (and saddened too) is just how much trash is in the woods here in Florida. From construction debris, to windblown trash from the road there is a HUGE amount of trash in our woods. Its sad. Was anyone else surprised by this?
  3. That timber rattler was obviously thirsty.
  4. My son and I have only been GC for three days now, and if you live in the South, you MUST be aware of snakes. They are EVERYWHERE. I never noticed them until I started getting out and GC'ing. Does anyone know if a GC has ever been bitten by a rattlesnake/moccasin etc. while looking for a cache? I mean black racers are literally everywhere. I saw at least three huge ones within 20 minutes.
  5. My son and I have found our first two caches today without a GPS. Like the others said, you need to start with the easy ones and at first use the clues. Use Google Earth to get in the neighborhood and then you just have to be patient and try to think if you were hiding something where would you put it. The one we found today was in the middle of the woods and we found it without a GPS and it was pretty well hidden.
