  1. Well done Les and Liz - last time I looked you were 498 and now...
  2. Well done Kev and Co! I think we crossed paths around Kielder Water without realising it last summer
  3. How did you know where the cache was then
  4. No doubt loads of others will now announce they have already done this... I did a good walk in the Lake District last October, picking up one geocache en-route (Piglets Pot - GCQ10W, route still to be published on geohikes.co.uk - sorry Dave ) and found another 'cache' on Dale Head containing no swaps - it wasn't listed, so I forgot about it. Yesterday, a new cache was published... on Dale Head. seems that I had spotted a "Summits on the Air" radio hams cache on my walk. This has now been published on geocaching.com so I can claim to have found (and entered into the log book) a geocache, 3 months before it was published Any other 'precache' finds??? littlejim
  5. I'm sure geocaching.com can adjust to your changing circumstance Our thoughts are with you both - You're still both geocachers, whatever
  6. Agreed - It took me 3 attempts to replace a disabled cache this summer, but was worth it
  7. Just change it to Brain - same letters, just reordered
  8. I think they'll want to be charging Groundspeak for the mileage
  9. If I get 1 geocache email in the 100 a day rubbish I receive (my email addresses are on my business website unfortunately ) it makes my day! Keep sending!
  10. I print all my logs Have you tried changing settings such as paper size - many printer drivers / software packages aren't perfect when it comes to A4 for instance! No chance! - I geocache with a Geko 201 and that's it!littlejim - geocaching software programmer...
  11. Would love to come - The Cumberland is my favourite Newcastle pub! But... we have an Open Studio weekend to put on... http://www.josmahon.com/openstudio_winter2005.htm The Catton Beacon cache is only 0.4 mile away if you want to visit before the Newcastle event (ok so it is 35 miles away from Byker!!) http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...ef-de6df21731c3 (shameless plugs, but I'm banned from geocaching for that weekend... ) littlejim

  16. Hi Daniel, great idea for the forum - it's producing lots of interesting replies Sam and I (remember Sam in my backgarden with Jess??) started almost the same day as you and for a while I thought I was keeping up the pace that you lot set, but Sam found it too exhausting ( ). So we have done 122 since January, set 19 and adopted 2 At least I got you into trigpointing on Catton Beacon next to my cache (shameless plug and what brownie points do I get for the introduction Deego ) Sam is looking for the sausages, so must finish littlejim
  17. Wow I've recently read somewhere that American english is probably closer to Elizabethan english than English english is that said, now what about the chat room - where were those instructions again...
  18. Moss Trooper joined forum before 30 sept 01 - RESPECT!
  19. If we don't get an answer, I suppose we have to assume you've been arrested

  21. Well done from me (and Randy says well done from him )
  22. Why not have a single UK query once per week? A maximum pq query (zipped) is about 500k ( for 500 entries) - about 20MB total for the UK. If everybody's trying to grab all the UK that makes nearly 20Mb per week, per person. As these will not match exactly (time / date / area etc) they will all run as individual queries. If they were all run as one, say once per day, they would only take one query on the server - then it would only be server download time. If this is too much of a load, then the download of this query could be limited to once per week. This way, you could get the UK update once per week ( 1, 20MB download) and also get the latest updates as required when needed.Regarding access to all UK records? why not?
  23. Count me in Mandy - Sam is part of the team though
  24. A few points from my perspective... 1. I would rather pay a fixed price for a service (example: BBC) rather than take a 'free' service paid for by advertising - I don't like advertising on websites and don't watch commercial televison. 2. I expect downtime on web services, just like sometimes tv, radio and telephones go wrong! I am sure the signup service conditions cover loss of service. 3. Web services often provide both a customer service and be an income channel for the supplier - hence an attempt to provide something free and also earn a revenue. 4. Paul's original question should be addressed, as well as uptime of service, I was upset at the recent change in the 'automatic' repeat pq generation changes - what service did I originally pay for and what do I now receive? In terms of service facilities, I don't except a degredation in service compared with what I thought was defined when I purchased the service (except 2 above). The service should increase hardware / infrostucture facilities to cater for increased requirements - more signed up users surely means more income? If the supplier is unable to supply the service for the period purchased, they should supply a refund. I should say, in this instance, I would be happy to pay extra for the service in the future - just do not expect me to except a reduced service for something I have paid for in advance - if the service is good (which it is), I will except an increase for future subscriptions. Just my thoughts(expect to be flamed... ) lttlejim
