  1. To: teepeeayy Sent a reply -- I think -- it's in my sent box anyway. PM me again if you didn't get it. The Prospectors
  2. Hey Prospectors, I sent you a PM (I think), just wanted to make sure you saw it.
  3. I'm a noob, and like Jeremy I'd like a commentary on "rule changes". Having said that, it doesn't matter if the forums are a cross section of cachers or not. People will gravitate to what they find useful. I also participate in a Boy Scout forum, and the very few posters there are absolutely no way in heck a respresentation of Scouting in general. Both forums are useful and fun, so I'm here. Its like the auto industry: Since I don't drive a BMW, the BMW club is useless to me. I'm still a car owner, just with differences.
  4. I'm hoping El Diablo, who seems to be the resident walking stick expert, publishes something in the Geocacher magazine. Here is a good (albeit lengthy) post that he started: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=73258 But I hope he includes some pictures of how he does the engraving. Specifically, how much of the outline gets engraved, how deep, sanding requirements, along with some more detailed specifics that he put in the above post. I may even buy a video (hint, hint) if he were to put one together. "Welcome to the El Diablo Workshop"
  5. FIX! FIX! Is Top Pin from a Red State or a Blue State? DANG, now I'll havta go and pay for a premium membership! .......still gotta get me one of them avatar things.......
  6. Eleven THOUSAND posts? THAT'S what I call an addiction! Kudos from another noob.
  7. Throwing in my $.02. I also have a Nikon Coolpix, and I also love it....but that's not what you asked. Obviously it depends on what you want to do, the Coolpix can record short video pieces, which I really like. I took a short clip of my son the first time he wore skis. If I could change one thing, I'd love it to be able to record sound along with the video. Other than that, you almost can't go wrong with any "known" brand. DANG! I got to get me one of them avatar things!
  8. Wow! Thanks. I appreciate the encouragement. I should have clarified that "cautious" meant I at least try to do a search.
  9. I'm a newbie. Heck, I'm still trying to figure out which GPS to buy! I found geocache.com from a Boy Scout web site. It interests me enough to know I want to try this. The newbies like me will ask questions that the vets consider "dumb". Don't flame, just say "look here" with a link. BTW, I spen the first 2 full days on this forum reading the "start here" section. There's still tons I don't understand, that's why I keep coming back. Intimidated about posting? Nah. But I try to be more cautious in my posts.
  10. Please welcome a newbie from Delaware County, Marple area.
  11. Hey El, How does the lanyard hardare get attached? I was looking at your web site (beautiful stuff, BTW), but do not see how the lanyard gets attached. The Treeline web site has the hardware, and it looks similar to what you have (yes??). Thanks for the time.
  12. This is terrific, thanks. I'm a newbie, yet to purchase a GPS (although the Garmin Rino 130 and GPSMap 60/60c/60cs are the leading candidates) or hunt a cache, but I'm getting closer. Was all over the post from El Diablo about making a walking stick too. BTW, a search on EBAY yields some pretty nice walking sticks too.
  13. Help a newbie out: I do a lot of camping with the Boy Scouts, so I like having radios to communicate with. So I'm considering the Rino 130. How does the GPSMap 60 compare? (obviously no radio, so other than that)
