  1. "The incidence of serious peanut allergies is, for the most part, a media hype job, whose primary effect has been to get our government schools to waste money on the issue." Ahem. I'm pleased money is spent on this serious issue. If it saves just one life then its money well spent. I don't know what it's like over in America, but In the UK its pretty tough for peanut sufferers with food companies stating in their allergy warnings "May contain traces of nuts" just to cover themselves when the food probably hasn't been anywhere near nuts. It leaves nut allergy suffers really restricted in the food they can eat. Any money spent on education and the serious nature of anaphylaxis is good and is definitely not a waste. As I said before, cache containers are as cheap as chips so I don't really see any need in using old food tubs.
  2. So I guess you keep the liberals out of these areas? Honestly, I have 2 relatives that are severely allergic to peanuts. They take responsibility for themselves. I am so tired of having to assume responsibility for others. I will of course, list a pb container on the cache page it is is used but like others have said what about the person that just ate a pb sandwich and is now handling caches, travel bugs, coins, etc..... No one in this world wants to take responsibility for themselves anymore. Why take the risk of putting other's health at stake? Wouldn't it just be safer not to use a peanut butter jar! It's not as though containers are expensive. Peanut allergy is a life threatening condition for many people and while people do try and take responsibilty for themselves, wouldn't the world be just that much nicer a place if we also looked out for others too?
  3. My DNFs have been micros - I spent nearly an hour looking for one (said to be nealrly a nano) in some woods yesterday but came away empty handed. Larger caches are much easier (and more fun) to find.
  4. Although I do sign log books, I also take a photo of every cache I find. I think cache owners would find a pictorial record of finds far more interesting than just a log of scribbled names.
  5. Here's a pic of the cache: http://media.use.com/images/s_4/3b42d60d6d0335088b56.jpg and http://media.use.com/images/s_4/05ad8f3084835ce1aad2.jpg Yes, that's the cache - we had a thorough check of the area last August after it had disappeared from it's correct location which was well surrounded by ferns. If the stones concealing this box are as shown in the photo I'm amazed it hasn't been muggled again. Will go down to collect it this weekend and use it for a new cache in the near future. Dave Yep, the stones were exactly like shown in the photo - its why I looked in there. Glad it seems to have been resued.
  6. Here's a pic of the cache: http://media.use.com/images/s_4/3b42d60d6d0335088b56.jpg and http://media.use.com/images/s_4/05ad8f3084835ce1aad2.jpg
  7. Just emailed MitchMob now. Seems odd that it would turn up again though after all this time. I have pics of it but dont think I can add them to the gallery without linking them to a find.
  8. That is the cache - its located in exactly the right place where I fond it! Should I contact the person who made the cache with a photograph of it. Seems strange taht it would suddenly reappear but it is in exactly that position.
  9. I did not see any other caches in the vicinity that were pm caches. Those would show up on the list of nearby caches, you would not see the co-ordinates. It could be a cache that was thought to have gone missing and archived, archived becaause someone quit playing or a cache removed from GC.com but still listed on other sites. If the logbook is still in good shape try getting some of the last signatures from the logbook and email them through the site and see if they can give you any clues. Will do. I'm heading back down there tomorrow so I will get more details. It is the largest cache I have found to date (though I have only found 12) and had one full notebook full of logs and another half full) so it had been discovered lots of times. I'll post more info on it tomorrow. Thanks.
  10. Hi, Whilst searching out the various caches located on Cefn Bryn on the Gower Peninsula, I found a cache (a larger than usual small plastic box marked up with the usual Geocache.com labels and containing a log book and the usual swaps). The site was located to the left of the following cache: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...db-acda5a241f27 and someway to the right of the following cache. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...1d-54c53b2401b2 I signed the log book and came home thinking my GPS was off (its just a basic GD-101). However, this cache is definitely not located on the basic Geocache.com site and I am wondering if it was one of those paid members only caches. Is anyone able to provide any clarity on caches found that do not appear on the accompany Google map? Thanks
  11. Mine just got reviewed after three days. Unfortunately, it got refused as it was in a cemetery - even though it was no near the graves. I had hoped that because the cemetery was in ruins and hadn't been used since the early in over forty years and the only graves there were at least sixty years old it would be Ok. Nevermind, will head back tomorrow and resite the cache just outside the cemetery. Three days for a review seems pretty good going though.
  12. I found it quite difficult rating the difficulty and terrain of my first geocache I hid. Do you think it would be a good idea if people logging their finds could rate these in their logs and the average of these finder ratings could automatically update the overall geocache rating?
  13. It is exciting waiting for your first cache to be reviewed. Ours is two days old now and still awaiting review. Its also nerve wracking wondering if it will be accepted or not.
