  1. WoooooooHooooooooo!!! Was that 2500 or so since you retired?!? Thanks so much everyone. I know I am not on the forums much, hopefully if they are improved it will be easier. And yes, pretty much made the big jump since retirement! After all, isn't that why I retired in the first place? It's great to have the geofriends I have, life is good!
  2. THE 8TH ANNUAL GEO OCOTILLO CAMPOUT ISSSSSSSSSSS....................... NOV. 12, 13, 14TH AT SKILLET'S DESERT OASIS IN OCOTILLO WELLS. DETAILS TO FOLLOW SHORTLY ALONG WITH THE CACHE PAGE. BE SURE TO MARK THOSE DATES ON YOUR CALENDARS !!! THE SPLASHES W/THE GEO OCOTILLO CAMPOUT CREW Calendar is duly marked!! We'll be there! Heard a rumor these dates were set. Can't wait for my First fall camp out! HEY! Who knows? Maybe I'll finally be finished working in Mexico by then!!! We will definitely be there too - with our trusty new wind proof tent and ..... well you'll just have to wait and see the rest but we'll be ready to off road for sure!
  3. Reid and I will be at the Big Bear event and staying at the Motel 6 as well. We'll be going up on Friday, home Sunday night. Anyone planning any off road caching runs for Saturday that our Jeep Commander could keep up with?
  4. Thank goodness...I just checked on it as originally posted and saw it was definitely not near Palomar (although getting the Southern most cache in the world would be fun too). Then I came back here to see how I made a typo and just saw this corrected. We can fit two adults comfortably in the back and have a third row seat for a small adult or children if anyone else wants in.
  5. We will be there! I was so bummed when a few North County folks got together last time to do this and we couldn't go. But we can now so we'll meet you at the appointed place and time. And we have room in our Jeep should anyone else need to hop in.
  6. I live in SEH and cache/hike around these hills alone all the time. That doesn't make it safe, just says a little about maybe my naivete! Anyway, I believe the signs are recent in the last some months as there was a sighting around Lake San Marcos, the lake/neighborhood area that's just on the downside of the microwave tower hill. It wasn't a big news event, and it's the second sighting event. Last year (or two ago) there was another sighting in the Cal State San Marcos campus area. No one has been attacked and no pets taken as meals (except for the coyotes occasionally). But needless to say, in spite of having cell phone, electric zapper, pepper spray with me, it may be better sense to not be alone after all.
  7. Lionhouse75 team is planning on attending if work doesn't get in the way. Had a great time last year and managed to get to just about all the events of the weekend and cache in between on some great truck trails. Looking forward to it again this year.
  8. Congratulations Nick and Sharon - huge accomplishment! Where will you have to go for #6,000??
  9. WooooooHooooooooooo!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!! 5000 way to go Congratulations, Nick and Sharon!
  10. Way to go to both Team Fatman and FATTBOY!!! Big achievement and worthy event at which to reach these milestones!
  11. Why don't we invite the venerable Mr. Jorgenson and/or his staff to join us on the CITO event? Maybe between now and then as we drive around the desert we should take photos of the real trash and send them the photos with coordinates for pickup! Maybe we can create a whole new sport called "geo-trashing".
  12. Thanks for the congrats - couldn't have picked a better group or venue to reach this first milestone. 100 finds seems like small potatos amidst this crowd but gotta start somewhere, right? Thanks again to all who have helped provide information and answer questions to get us started.
  13. I had exactly the same thing happen today to me too which is precisely why I came in here to check and see if the website had been changed in some way. Got blue flag, geocache word instead of cache name too. And I've downloaded several times this week and today was the first time this happened while I did the same thing every time. And yes, I'm over 50 too but I know it was different today than before - I wouldn't know how to do anything different from the way I've always done it!
