  1. We've heard the rumors that once you go to Lonk Island that you start talking funny, and actually start to enjoy sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
  2. If it is indeed 48 hours, then the TB pages should be updated to reflect that. Currently, they 2 of the 3 say 72 hrs. For some strange reason the LI Flag says 48 hrs. Official & NJ 4. Flag Retrieval: Once you retrieve a flag you have 72 hours (3 days) to play it in another qualified cache (see above for description). Failure to do so within the alloted timeframe will result in a team penalty (see scoring below). LI 4. Flag Retrieval: Once you retrieve a flag you have 48 hours (2 days) to play it in another qualified cache (see above for description). Failure to do so within the alloted timeframe will result in a team penalty (see scoring below) But goes on to say later.... 1. Holding: If a team member holds onto a flag for more than 72 hours a 10 point penalty is ... This wouldn't be LI trying to benefit from a Loophole would it?
  3. So, just to throw some "game theory" into the mix, it would seem plausible to log the flag on Friday afternoon and (according to the rules) log the next placement on Monday (72hrs later) which would make weekend expeditions fruitless. Of course that only works when NJ has the flags
  4. Are you kidding me? From the time that I posted the forcast, until the time we left, the POP (Probablity of percipitation) dropped from 100% to 70%. I think there was even a period of time when we were out doing the Poker Caches where it completly stopped raining. Now, if there were only something you could have done for our lousy pair of 3's.
  5. We're watching "Revelations", so I'm not sure I want to know Looks like Resolution has been upgraded to 99.9%. Rain or Shine!
  6. Obiously, Avroair's sense of wetness is skewed by his recent caching adventures. Please just don't strip down to your skivvies, this is supposed to be a family event. NOAA Forecast
  7. I will check out why the control is not exposing this folder at the top of the tree, but you should still be able to get to it from the root "\Documents and settings" Yes, that is true, but in my lab/network, I have a Group Policy that actually re-directs this folder to a server (so, you really can't get at it from "Documents and settings". If the object is exposed, your application should be able to leverage all of the benefits of folder-redirection and synchronization without having to do a lick of code. Thanks for taking a look at this.
  8. You could always try to setup "Off-line" files and have your notebook synch during either a schedule, logon and logoff. That's the reason that I asked about "My Documents" in the other thread, since I have my "My Documents" redirected to a server share, these are automatically snychronized. My configuration is a little more robust than most peoples since my Home network is really my computer lab. Clyde: Is there some reason that the "My Documents" object is not exposed when selecting the Database location? (Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse).
  9. Is there a way to change the database location to "My Documents"? To make a long story short, this directory is synchronized for off-line or on-line access. Thanks

    Funny Logs

Hopefully KBer is laughing about this now, but I couldn't stop laughing when I read this Notorious
  11. I'm not sure if it was with our "Notorious" cache or with the controversial "River Road Rampage ", but congratulations for your 50th find!
  12. First, the most important question....how much money you got? No, wait that's not it...How much money do you want to spend? Do you want one that works in Long Island, or just the normal part of the world? I really like my Garmin 60cs (with a 3rd party external antenna)
  13. So what are the rules? And are they the same for both teams? This is starting to remind me of "Calvin Ball", where you make up the rules as you go along. I'd be happy to host the "official" rules on my website this way there's a definative source for the rules de-jur.
  14. I recently got my new 60cs, and bought Topo Maps US. What I noticed is that there are highways that were completed 10 years ago that are missing from the maps. Are the maps they used that old, or am I missing something? I'm not looking to do navigation using this, but would expect that the infrastructure would be a little more accurate. Running version 6.5 (downloaded from Garmin's website)
  15. Look in the directory that you extracted the update to (default c:\Garmin) and double-click "Updater" or "Updater.exe" (depending on your computer's display settings.
  16. As near as I can tell, it's the same file for both units. I upgraded my 60cs using the software from the 60c without issue.
  17. We usually cache together, but there seems to be some conflict on if I happen to be in an area for work that we'd be unlikely to go to together that it shouldn't be logged under the "team" name. As far as the forums, we are both active. She likes to be serious and I like to have fun (hence the name). Since I use GSAK and she has the premium accuont, I use that to run pocket queries and keep everything up to date. Wouldn't it be cool if you could have multiple logins linked to 1 account? But, I understand the complexity and implications of that. Sometimes, I think about just saying "I'm with her" Seems to fit with her "I'm with Stupid" T-shirt.
  18. My wife and I are relatively new to Geocaching, and have started with much enthusiasm, and I was wondering what the best way to manage the Geocaching account(s). 1. Share an account and tag all Forum correspondence with the individuals name 2. Create separate accounts 3. Others ideas? It's not that we can't play nice together, but there's this sense of ownership (and God forbid the sense that one might embarrass the other) but the separate account thing also has its drawbacks. I was just wondering what other couples we doing to deal with the issue.
  19. Being relativly new to the Geocaching scene, we're definately interested in meeting some of the other local geocachers in the area. As long as it's not April 3rd. All of the caching activity is listed under "Resolution", but the wife doesn't want me embarassing her so I had to create my own account. Finally came up with a name that would live up to the fear. God, I love being married!
  20. Patience, patience!!! It's going to take at least a couple of weeks to get this finished. Besides, I've not totally decided on the FTF yet. I know, I'm sure you're waiting for the Explorist 500's to become available for FTF!
  21. You see, it was her idea to actually start Geocaching...If I told her that I'd gone out on a cache without her I'd catch more %#^$ for that then I did for buying the GPS. Go and figure...now to top it off, she'll have the SportTrack Map and I'll be sporting the 60cs...the gift that keeps on giving. Might have to consider upgrading her to the 500 or 600 when available and give the SportTrack to my daughter. Who says this isn't an expensive sport?
  22. To further complicate the issue if I had waited for the Magellan, I would have had enough time to convince the better 1/2 why we need a second GPS. and probably have taken much less grief over it. Should be interesting to see what a 60cs bruise on my upper leg looks like.
  23. How about 1 for every honest politician?....hold it that won't work.
  24. I'm sure you'll be happy with the Explorist when they become available. I really wasn't trying to turn this into another one of those "Garmin vs. Magellan" pi$$ing contests. I was really on the fence. If they were both available at the time I made my decission I would have bought the 600 since I already have Mapsend Topo. The SD card and the 3-axis compas are things I'm definately going to miss. But the combination of the rebate, and a few other factors was enough to get me to change my mind. The one thing I think we all can agree on is that each unit has pluses and minuses over the other (even though they may be different on an individual basis) and that hopefully we'll all be happy with whichever choice we made. I hope for everyone that is waiting for the Explorist's that the production schedules are on time and that we're not having this conversation in June. Happy Geocaching! Greg
