  1. Thats how terrorism works.. the clue is in the name
  2. HI, its Kazim1959 here with a name change, what was going to be a solo 'sport' turned out to be a team effort with the other two in my family, so a team name was decided upon
  3. Putting your hand in a hole in a log... stuff of nightmares. If you have a wicked sense of humour and you are with someone.. the possibilities are almont endless
  4. What are you getting? when is it coming, and more importantly, are they gonna be all your local ones at once, or can you hold the excitement and make them last a bit Welcome to the tupperware hunters league
  5. Joseph Nettles, inventor of the Time Travelling Capsule will be born here 2034 Surely? Any fule kno - Molesworth! Ah the statement is true 'today' but I wrote that three and a half weeks after his birth
  6. The last blue plaque I saw stated Joseph Nettles, inventor of the Time Travelling Capsule was born here 2034
  7. Winter is for placing caches. You know how muddy its gonna get, it probably wont get any worse (water wise) for the caches durability, and there is little, or no vegetation, so you then know that in the spring its gonna be hidden even more! Place them in the winter, check on them a month later, get all your goodies (unwanted? Christmas pressies) and load them in your new caches and come Springtime, give the reviewers some work to do! and the hunters a whole load of new places to go. Well, thats the plan.
  8. eddie29, did you ever get this sorted?
  9. What a shame you wont come down as far as Cambridge...just another 30 miles... http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...2e-5eff4517e87a not sure how to do the clever linking malarkey
  10. Certainly with my Nokia 5800 you needed a good 15 minutes for Trimble to find the satellites, even though Ovi maps would take 5 mins at the most Your ariel is under the keypad!! So try not to cover it when searching for the satellites
  11. I understand what they are, just didnt know what they were called! and I wasn't implying they were the centre of the town/city, just merely pointing out that most communities have one, and there are numbers 'attached' to them. Making the 'game' and 'numbers' connection could make some rather difficult multiples. This was an attempt to give the OP an 'answer' to the question raised. As an aside the centre of London is the obelisk outside Charing Cross Station. When you see a sign that says London 43 miles, it means to the obelisk.
  12. sometimes there is a marker on a church, or an important building (especially if they have WD underneath them WD ones were WW2 markers,) Like this one but the older ones, like this one AFAIK are height above sea-level markers, that means numbers, that means fun! (to some people) If it were important enough a place for a sea-level marker to be put, I'd say it was 'central'
  13. I used my 5800 before placing any, and checked against Googlemaps (I hear you all moaning now, keep quiet please! ) and the accuracy was as good as my Garmin. Mind you, I was not under any tree cover, and the skies were almost cloud free!
  14. I hope you read all the info and left your GPSr running for about 15 mins... outside with the left side unobstructed.. to get a good lock, but I concur with GerritS run ovimaps in the background
  15. campdave sorted out 25 or so left... These are all Fuji style, most are clear though I have some black ones. and possibly 100 of the 'other' type, plus aps style, although they arent that good
  16. Cross contamination from film pots...ppfffttt I work in Boots photo lab, if anyone needs any more give us a shout!
  17. put FF on a usb stick that'll keep it off her PC http://portableapps.com/news/2009-02-04_-_..._portable_3.0.6
  18. I camp in North Wales every year, and usually to the Hendre Mynach camp site in Barmouth, so much so I now call it by the Welsh name AberMawr. Great Carnival in August, both the Precipice Walks are good and it offers good roads to the North, and the South for that extra bit of wilderness.
  19. You can hire from Huntingdon Marine & Leisure in Godmanchester, http://www.waterscape.com/services-directo...ine-and-leisure just about 8 miles away down river, that'll get you a boat on the Great Ouse. There used to be boat hire on the Riverside Park in Town, but that only gets you on the (very small) boating lake, and I havent seen those out for some time. Why not buy a small inflatable dinghy? or see if someone will loan you a kayak or two? or a family canoe ( I seem to remember HM& L having those in their itinery.) If the children are old enough theres always cycling round Grafham Water, with a whole days worth of caches too!
  20. As ryan3295 says, however I will add that NiCad are probably the worst recahargeable battery ( what with the 'memory' problems, and therefore NiHm are the best chemistry-wise
  21. spsl Sharpened Pencil, signed log The amount of broken pencils.
  22. Rabbits are bad to put in caches. They 'thump' all night long, giving the location away. The best thing is a Cat. Along with a glass vial of poison, a piece of radioactive material and a Geiger counter for the FTF. Dunno what to call it though ;D
  23. silly question, have you 'moved' the pointer along and forgotten to hit the quit button (for shame I did that for a while) I think that stops the compass pointer from working. It certainly does on the map
