  1. Hardly a "Deadly Sin" but I'm annoyed by naming geocaches a mixture of random words that mean absolutely nothing but are meant solely help with some Challenge Cache. In my opinion this serves to only dilute the very challenge of those Challenge Caches. "Ode to Old Xerxes Under the Sun in Philadelphia" Totally Lame.
  2. Yesterday, just dragging the files from one GUI to the other seemed to work but I had such a mix of manually loaded caches and a couple PQs I wasn't 100% certain that did the trick. I'll report back with confirmation; thank you for the help. I want to delete all and start with a fresh PQ. I like the idea of using Base Camp to edit if I want in lieu of sending the whole PQ but right now I'll be happy with any working method. Now I need to learn another software, ugh.
  3. The PQ file is in the GPX folder with all the other geocaches I loaded one click at a time. They show up in the waypoint list (find/waypoint) but so do the caches I loaded one click at a time. The do not show in the geocache list (find/geocache)... but they show on the map....as geocaches...not waypoints. I'll try Base Camp...
  4. I meant 60Cx.... right now seems more sensitive and better than this 62S All the caches on the map view show as caches, however, only the ones loaded one at a time can be navigated to by pressing find/geocache because only those loaded one at a time show on the list. Sorry for the density but I don't know what you mean by folder. If I look at my device through a PC while it is connected via USB, I see the caches loaded one at a time AND the PQ caches in the same place or 'folder' but in the field I cannot navigate to the PQ caches nor see any of the cache page information. I've loaded new PQs and the problem persists. It seems clear there is some hiccup when loading PQs but I can't figure out what it is. The file is there, I can see it and they show as caches on the map but not the list. You all know what I mean when I say 'map' and 'list', right?
  5. The caches on the 'map view' on the unit appear as normal caches whether I loaded them one click at a time or from a PQ...but when I press "find" / "geocache" they do not appear on the list at all, only the caches I loaded one click at a time appear (on the list). I also just noticed when I click (from a PC) on a cache on the screen I've already loaded into my unit I'll get that message stating it already exists and do I want to overwrite. OK, fine, I get that but when I click on a cache that was part of my PQ I do not get that same message even though the PQ is on my unit. When I plugged in my unit to my PC and view it like you would any other thumb drive etc. I can see the .gpx file (the PQ) on my unit and it has a file size but those caches do not come up on the list when pressing on the unit "find" / "geocache". I haven't tried Base Camp yet. I'd be surprised if that alone is the fix all since I see the PQ on my unit, on my PC screen, on my unit map but not on my unit "list".
  6. Hello, I've searched the forum, which is incredibly difficult since you can't have 3 letter words in your search? but haven't found this problem (even though I'm sure it has been discussed somewhere) and would appreciate an extra large clue. In short, my geocaches can be seen on the map but not on the list when I "find/geocaches". Here's what happened in detail. I manually loaded a half dozen or so caches locally, clicking on them one at a time and sending them to my unit. I went out and searched for them and everything operated as it should. I later went back home and ran a PQ on a couple hundred caches out of town and sent them to my unit just like I always have with my older Cx, by using Map Source. When I arrived in this other town, a relatively short distance away and pressed "find" "geocaches" the only caches that show up on the list are the caches I manually loaded in my home town. I could see all the PQ caches on my GPSr's "map" but they don't show on the list. I could navigate to a cache by moving the cursor to the cache or pressing "find" and then "waypoint" but I get no cache information, only its way point. Any help would be appreciated. I would also like to take the opportunity to say if it was not for the paperless friendly feature of the 62S I would much prefer to use my 62Cx and my 62Cx was also much faster and significantly more sensitive than this 62S.... but I lost that wonderful unit, unfortunately. 7. Thirty bucks a year multiplied by tens of thousands is hardly "NOTHING". It's interesting to see all the posts by people who have never posted before. It speaks to the uproar this update has caused. Put me in the camp of those who would gladly pay an extra premium to have access to Google maps as it once was. Some of the other feature upgrades are a nice touch but this current mapping situation is horrible and nearly unusable and running some third party script isn't necessarily a safe solution. I'm surprised there are users who claim the satellite views offer no value. You've got to be kidding. Maybe they add little value to your specific needs but I think most of us get much value out of those views. Please pursue options that will allow the thousands of people here ready and willing to pay a premium to utilize Google maps. There's got to be a way.
  8. I know one should but that's why we're writing, there are problems. TeamLPD, this should help: http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=209
  9. This happened to me recently too, which is why I'm browsing for answers here. I've contacted Garmin via email but have yet to hear back from them so I'm simply chiming in. I have the 2011 version, fresh off the shelf so no update is (yet) required that I know of. I understand the whole piracy issue but I sure hope Garmin responds with instructions that allow one to install this software on at least two computers. To own the software and limiting customers to one install would be absurd.
  10. haven't found one yet that leaked, ..... Most of the film containers I have found show signs of at least past leakage if not currently wet and ruined logs. Sure it depends on where they are placed but that does not change the fact they are poor containers for keeping out moisture.
  11. I qualify as a lurker or at least an infrequent visitor. I found my first few caches about 3 years ago caching with friends before I had my own unit and only recently started visiting while researching the buzz on the Oregons. I wasn't scared off by the negative reports on its screen but ended up going with a 60Cx for other reasons. Figured I'll get another unit later after upgrades or rev rolls are made and spend some time doing this to see if I want to drop that kind of dough on units with more options, bells and whistles. I appreciate the links people have posted for various help and being directed to places like gpsfiledepot. This place isn't too hostile, from what I can tell from my very brief forays here. I've spent years on the PCGS boards so maybe I'm just used to the hostilities that can come from behind a keyboard. Most of the time I find it entertaining. A good flaming is fun! I'm gearing up to place my first caches and my intent, at least with some of them, is to put the coin in cache (or back into it). I do enjoy finding the simple film canisters and nanos but it is also very cool to come across ammo cans and other containers that can hold more, larger items than just a rolled up scroll. Low grade wheat cents, Buffalo nickels with readable dates, silver Roosies and pre-64 quarters, a few Ikes and a steady flow of uncirculated Presidential dollars are some of the items you'll be able to find and a couple of these I've already been dropping in other cache. Hopefully some find it neat and just maybe it'll spark an interest in numismatics with some kids or even adults. Interleague play is good. S! Maj.
  12. My friend and I have a friendly argument going: Since we are never around oceans or lakes with our units and only shin deep streams, I maintain I would rather have my 60CSx sink to the bottom of the stream bed where I can easily bend over and pick it up out of the water. His, however, being a 76CSx will be carried away by the flowing water, out of sight, over the waterfall a mile away.
