  1. I was following the "Quick Start" guide after installing the batteries- I couldn't find the power button. After it powered up and found satts- really quick too- I entered a new waypoint using the "Mark" button and figured out how to edit the coords- a much better system than my Explorist 200 (rocker switch) And then I turned to the "Geocache" section of the manual- I was ready. The manual only has limited info and directs you to their web page- which also has nothing about installing the GPSr to the Computer and installing the drivers...I think I saved a little face but I would like to see them Give Us Way better instructions on how to hook up the GPSr to the computer! There is nothing there...Thanks for the link.
  2. I just got my GPSMAP60 this morning and I was concerned after reading a lot of posts about it :Having trouble keeping signal, Poor accuracy- jumps around, and unreliable under tree cover. My old GPSr (Explorists 200) had none of these problems, so I was concerned. I took it out to "Find" some of my caches close to my house that I know have extremely accurate posted coords on GC.COM- this GPSr has AMAZING accuracy and a very sensitive antenna- I love it. It "warm" starts very fast too. The only drawback I can see is you have to pay extra $$$.$$ for the available maps. --havn't tested under tree cover yet.....
  3. Thanks- I feel like a duface...I didn't know the cd rom that came with had drivers on it. My bad. Thanks again, I will restart and do it. --Yes, it works perfectly now that I installed the CDRom. So easy to download rather than poking coords in one at a time!
  4. Can someone give me some instructions how to download from GSAK to my new GPSMAP60? I plugged it (GPSr) into the USB I normally use with my camera- computer said found new hardware and I cancelled the Wizard. I set up GSAK to Garmin and USB but when I try to send the waypoints to the GPSr I get an Error message- can't connect- is the unit on? The GPS says it is connected so what am I doing wrong? Is there something I need to do to the GPSr before sending the waypoints?
  5. I did buy one and I'll compair it to my Explorist 200, as far as accuracy and ability to find signal and lock in goes- thats going to be a tall order though. I can only hope I find a way to download to it. I figured any GPSr I bought with a USB would be able to download from GC.com...so far dosn't look like it unless you punch them in one at a time- argh!
  6. Does this mean you're working on an application for the Cobra 1000 that would solve our problem?- seems like close mindedness is the main factor to overcome with this GPSr. People report much better accuracy than "Garmin" which seems to be lacking in the antenna dept...
  7. So far I have found very few negative things said about the Cobra 1000 GPSr. Only thing people seem to be wanting is a way to download the .gpx-.loc files with a program like GSAK. Why not make a program for this GPSr unit? You can put a 1gig SD card into it! Seems like Geocachers might be better off with other choices than the Big Two- both of which have their own problems. Cachers are pretty brand sensitive (To what they are using) and I think an open mind is a good thing. If someone made a way to download .gpx to this they could start a revolution!
  8. Thanks for the info...It seems right now there is no program such as GSAK that will send the files to the Cobra1000. I would like to know if there is a way to load a bunch of waypoints like from a querry search... I'm upgrading from my Explorist 200 which I think is very rugged and extremely acurate- I was going to get the GPSMAP60 but after reading a bunch of posts it seems one comon factor is its lackluster antenna performance- one guy even recomended (as he does) using an external antenna under your hat! LOL! So I thought I'd try the Cobra- I will have to send it back when it comes unless I can figure out how to download massive amounts of waypoints to it at one time. thanks, SDR.
  9. Does anyone have experiance using the Cobra GPS1000 with it's 32mb SD card and included Cd Rom street nav software? For Geocaching, that is. Says it can hold 50 routes with 50 waypoints. That would be 2,500 caches!
