  1. I love placing and watching the progress of trackables. I can take a few for Texas if you like.
  2. Finally got it working. Installing the .exe files into basecamp and then transferring them to the GPSr using basecamp was not working at all. I instead downloaded the .img and copied them to the device manually. I am finally seeing the roads and the Birdseye imagery with no issues. Thanks for the help!
  3. I combined three different state OSM maps.
  4. I had downloaded the OSM files and then used the OSM Combiner on them. It appears that the combine failed. When I enable the combined map, even with Birdseye off, nothing is showing. Thanks for the point in the right direction. I think I will just send the original OSM maps to my garmin. I doubt I will need that many at a time, so it shouldn't really be an issue.
  5. This may be a bit of a noobie question, but I have downloaded several Birdseye areas for my location, and I have the OSM map for the state. In BaseCamp I can see the OSM streets on top of the Birdseye images. Is there a way to get it to display in the same way on my Oregon 700? I can't seem to find any settings for draw order or layering. Thanks!
  6. Are people still using TopoFusion for Satalite or Aerial images? Or does anyone know of a better source. Still digging through all the links above too.
  7. Hey, thank you all for the info and replies. This is going to give me quite a bit to crunch on and work with. Thank you so much!
  8. I have just purchased a new Garmin Oregon 700 to replace my 11 year old Garmin GPSr. It has been a long time since I have used or messed with a GPSr and I am way out of the game. Are there a good/best set of maps I should get upload to the unit for geocaching? Free or paid? I would love to be able to see trails and roads both. I didn't get a unit with topo preloaded, but it got me thinking about whether I should be looking for better maps for this unit or not. I see that the birds-eye satellite images are supposedly pretty poor. Is there another satellite image map source I could upload in place of these? TIA! Any comments or help is greatly appreciated. I am feeling a bit lost at the moment.
  9. Thank you all for the advice! I finally decided on an Oregon 450 and ordered it from Amazon yesterday night. Now I just have to wait Funny thing is it showed in stock and I chose next day shipping but still shows as expected by may 6th! I am gonna have to call amazon about that one. No sense in paying for next day shipping if I wont have it by the weekend.
  10. I am looking at getting myself an actual GPSr and need some advice. I have been researching the Garmin 60csx and the Garmin Colorado 400t. So far it looks like the Colorado is a major upgrade to the 60csx. I am looking for a quality all around unit that I can use for driving as well as caching. I have a few questions though and would appreciate some answers from those with experience. Is the accuracy the same for the Colorado as it is on the 60csx? I am looking for something able to handle cloudy days and wooded areas. How well do the paperless features work on the Colorado? Is it worth the extra money? Can either system be used for road-trip navigation? Do they have a system voice to give you turn by turn? Any Pro’s or Con’s for either unit I should be aware of? Are there any other units that do what I want that I should look at? Thanks in advance for the help and happy caching!
