  1. I could have sworn that Mapblast did this, but I am not having any luck. Anyone know of a good site?
  2. Ok everyone, I feel as though I have to jump in here to clear the air a bit. First let me introduce myself. I placed the original post. My name is Dave, I go by the alias Figatissimo. Although I've never made it to a triangle geocacher's meeting, my multi-stage cache "Sergei's legacy" was voted "most challenging cache in the triangle" by that group. So.. I've given back to the game as well as enjoyed participating. I had to laugh when I saw this cache called a "commercial venture"... Oh yeah! It's going to be a real cash cow! PLEASE! I got a little tired of picking off ticks for the sake of a few Pokemon cards. I suspect many of you feel the same. Though my kids love it, I want something more. So-- I put more of my hard earned money into the game to take it up a notch again. - A crime? Guess what? Spiritual rewards aside, you get what you pay for with most things in life. What am I asking in return? To get some of my investment back. Don't like it? Don't play. Want a little more excitement out of geocaching. I think this will be your outlet. I promise that I will try to get to one of the next triangle geocacher's meetings so that the untrusting can put a face to the name. That's all, Dave
  3. The gold has been hidden. You can find it. Check it out: http://www.geocities.com/dcbaden
  4. Would one of my fellow triangle area geocachers be kind enough to let me borrow their garmin mapsource CD? A free banana split for your troubles. Figatissimo!
  5. Hey all, Thinking about putting together a REAL $ prize event cache here in the Triangle area. It would go something like this: Bullion coin(s) would be stashed somewhere in the area. At 10 am on a given Sat. morning, a website set up for the cache would reveal the clues. Everyone would hop in their car and hunt. First one there grabs it and wins. Admission would be charged, and the prize value would increase with the number of people participating. I think it would be a lot of fun if enough people would participate to raise the value to where it is in the $100-$500 range. Whattya think!? Reply with a "Yeah or Nay" so that I know if it is worth doing. Figatissimo!
  6. On one occassion, I went into the woods with a full blader knowing an opportunity would present itself to take care of the problem. When my GPS read about 90 Feet away, I took a quick look around and realizing that I was alone, answered natures call. Continued on the hunt as My GPS jumped around sending me to and fro for about 15 minutes When I decided to take a compass bearing and try it that way. Followed the bearing to where I realized that I had been before. Looked down and yup, there was the puddle. I looked over about 10 inches and whooops!! there is the cache! Just missed it!!
  7. I'd like to explore the idea of forming a club to set up challenging event caches. Cash and prizes at the end would make it more interesting. Heres' what I'm thinking: Say we set up a club and have 50 members. Bi-monthly dues are $10. The club would then have $500 in the kitty. Every 2 months, a comittee of about 5 people would form to set up a challenging cache on a chosen weekend. The commitee members would be barred, but the other 45 would race to find the cache, the winner would recieve the $$$. Next event, a different committee would be formed. etc. Any thoughts?
  8. Sergei was a KGB officer working in the Triangle area in the late 80's. He disappeared under mysterious circumstances. What did he leave behind? Solve the puzzle and find out! Ok, folks, I finally got this one hidden and submitted. This is a multi-stage web-interactive cache. Look for it soon!
