  1. Hi -- just bought a used SporTrak Pro and am having 0 success getting it to connect to either laptop. I'd like to: 1) Connect to Streets and Trips to use the onboard mapping 2) connect to the notebook to update the firmware 3) connect to the basemap software and more easily load waypoints into the unit for geocaching and back to the PC for online journaling/blogging The laptops of course do not have a serial connection, so I bought a $25 serial-USB adapter. No success. Scanning earlier posts, I've seen possibilities the baud rate is too high (how do I control this?) - that the serial-USB adapter may not be compatible (how do I know? I hate to pay Magellan's $40+ for THEIR USB converter Please help -- this is tantalizingly frustrating. i want to do more, but am afraid I'll have to wipe everything out soon. I've written to magellan support, but they haven't answered. Thanks!
  2. Hi! I just bought a used Magellan SporTrak Pro and am having a heckuva time getting it to communicate with my PC. Need some advice! - the cable is serial. My laptops have only USB. So I purchased a serial-to-USB cable, and still nothing. I have Windows XP pro, SP2, on a Dell Latitude C400 - I REALLY want to use this with Streets and Trips from Microsoft -- can I assume this will work OK if I ever get this thing to talk to my PC? I'm sure I'll have more questions. Can anyone help? Refer me to another BBS? Thanks!
