  1. So that plain old park and grab at the same location is somehow much better because you had to jump through hoops just to be allowed to log it as found? Colour me bewildered And really HOW does that challenge make the game more interesting? Consider the two options: 1. Go out and find a bunch of caches because you want to. 2. Go out and find a bunch of caches because a challenge says you have to - then go and sign the log on that plain old park and grab. What did option 2 add to the experience to make it more interesting? Oh yeah - that plain old park and grab at the end. Logic like that I just can't take seriously. I believe you have misunderstood tomturtle's post. I agree with him. I find a challenge cache much more interesting. I enjoy the challenge of it. It's not about what I found to qualify, it's about completing the challenge. The basic novelty of finding caches have worn off for me. It's like betting on a sporting event. If you have a vested interest in the outcome, it's more exciting. I see. Could you explain how you think I've misunderstood tomturtle's post and we'll see if you're right? Sure, I'll bite. I believe your answer was in your question. Yes, that plain old park and grab challenge cache is more interesting to him than the plain old park and grab caches he found to qualify for the original plain old park and grab challenge. I suppose you didn't misunderstand it. You nailed it.

  3. Hahahahahahahahaha (deep inhale) hahahahahahahahaha This shark jump idea made my literally LOL.
  4. You do not have to alter anything. If I see a Challenge I do not find interesting, I just don't do it. I really don't care if there's a 1000 day streak cache down the street from my house. Why do people feel they need to find everything out there. There are plenty of lamp post caches around here that I dislike even more. I don't sit here and bitch about them. I simply ignore them. Exactly. I have never understood that argument. You don't have to find everything. There is a great mechanism in place...the ignore list.
  5. I'm interested in creating a team for GCV8A2. I work near stage. If a Florida cacher is interested, please reply to me.
  6. I'm interested in creating a team for GCV8A2. I work near stage. If an Maryland cacher is interested, please reply to me.
  7. I'm interested in creating a team. I work near stage. If an Ohio cacher is interested, please reply to me. I am also posting to Florida and Maryland.
  8. Thank you all for the great advice. That really helps. I appreciate it.
  9. Thank you, Keystone. That is probably what I will have to do to find it. I was wondering if there is a way to find your discovered date from viewing the trackable page, rather than searching the logs. The reason I ask is two-fold. I'd like to quickly know if I've previously discovered a trackable and also to compile discovered dates for challenge caches. Thanks for the quick response, also.
  10. Forgive me if this is a repeat question that has been answered. Is there an easier way to find your discovery date on trackables other than searching the logs?
  11. A similar issue was noted in in Post #29. That same solution should work for you as well, as a PM. Statewide search, sorted by Favorites. Thank you. That does work. I just prefer to see every cache in a state, not just 1,000.
  12. The 30 mile max. is useless for me when I want to search a 50 mile area. I used to display an entire state, then I could filter by favorite points for the entire state. That is gone.
  13. No binder but I keep extensive and detailed notes via the cache note mechanism.
  14. 44, SWM, no drugs, diseases or drama, enjoys romantic powertrails on the beach and letterbox-hybrids in the mountains.
  15. I had a weekend ban about four years ago for something I believed was just a joking matter, but apparently it was not to Groundspeak. Since then, I feel the "walking on eggshells" environment. I mostly post vague replies and really do not express my full hearty opinion about much for fear of retribution. There does seem to be a harsh brittle approach with the powers that be rather than a true customer service attitude. In the past, I have been talked down to by lackeys and volunteers and truly do not feel valued as a customer and I don't expect that to change or to be contacted by anybody from home office wanting to understand it.
  16. Thank you for this link. Is this something I can browse to via the website or do I have to manually browse to the URL? I sometimes want a list of EVERY geocache in a given state. Was there an explanation of why the search engine changed? I know some people might want to see EVERY cache in a given state, but how is that really practical. There are a few countries with only a handful of caches where seeing them all might be useful, but what someone going to do with a list which contains every cache in California? I've added the URL to my browser favorites so no longer an issue. I specifically want to run the search for every cache in a given state to know the exact number of published geocaches in the state at that moment. I can't do that in the new search unless I am mistaken.
  17. I understand what a lab cache is but I don't understand the appeal after finding a few. The lab caches I found seemed more like bait-and-switches to get me to a business to buy a product.

  19. I noticed when using the filters, if I ran a filter for a min. of 50 fav. pts. and didn't deselect the Other size, it returned about 20 events. Once I deselected Other, it was fine.
  20. I'd guess it determines on the type of appeal. Deleted logs probably have a high success rate. Successful appeals over a reviewer decision are probably much lower.
  21. We have several tree climb caches in my neck of the woods. I will use the negative tree climb attribute to inform cachers that my terrain is high but not due to a tree climb.
  22. If I were you, I would seriously consider not placing a cache when you have found none at all. You most likely do not know good and bad containers, good hiding spots, and the guidelines of placing a cache. I disagree with this concept. I hid my first cache before ever finding one. Everything I needed was on the website. The cache lasted a couple years without issue before I archived it.
  23. Yep, a geocache owner was upset at me for mentioning the barking dogs on the other side of the fence. They insinuated that I possessed rat DNA and that my parents were unwed upon my birth.
  24. I've had a couple geocaches recently disabled by a reviewer after three or four DNF logs without a NM log at all. I checked and the geocache is fine it's just tougher than an LPC.
