  1. Try opening MapInstall and see if you can do it directly from there.
  2. I like the low profile of the Garmin stock mount more than RAM mounts. You do need to be sure it slides all the way in place when you attach the unit though.
  3. Maybe you should just get the new Garmin fenix watch.
  4. FWIW, I expect that the next Garmin series to be updated will be the Oregon and/or Montana.
  5. It's not quite that bad... But at 70 x 70px, it is pretty limited.
  6. Have you considered BirdsEye aerial imagery? It may give better coastal detail (in some ways) than other maps and charts.
  7. Under track setuo there are various options that influence how often trackpoints are recorded. To get the most accurate tracklog distance, set it to one point per second. Note though that it will archive the track in less than three hours at this setting.
  8. I find the 62s a bit more user friendly, due to more buttons, their layout and button labeling. It's also easier for me to use mountain biking as I can toggle pages pretty well without looking at it.
  9. They can go into the track manager and under each track choose "show on map."
  10. I second the eTrex 20. Also, with any GPS, it will take a while for it to lock satellites after travelling a significant distance, so plan to leave it on, under open sky for a full half hour after arriving.
  11. If you run a pocket query, you can just drag and drop it.
  12. And if you can't swing an eTrex 20, get the eTrex 10.
  13. The answer to both is... possibly. I'd check out Magellan's Content Manager: http://support.magellangps.com/support/index.php?_m=downloads&_a=view&parentcategoryid=12&pcid=358&nav=0,358 They use to have a POI manager, but I'm assuming this functionality is part of Content Manager now.
  14. Are you on Windows or a Mac? Have you tried a different browser?
  15. I'd go with the eTrex 20, since the 10's memory is very limited.
  16. I don't know if that device does paperless caching, but I'd suggest looking at the Garmin eTrex 10 (or an eTrex 20 if you can afford it).
  17. What do you mean by Birds Eye view? Are you talking about maps or aerial photos?
  18. You don't need GSAK. Just drag and drop the GPX file to the GPX folder on the Montana. For highway use, try changing the profile to Automotive.
  19. You don't say if you're on Windows or Mac, or what browser you're using, but this may be a better place to ask: https://forums.garmin.com/
  20. You could try a different browser. Or you could learn to use pocket queries and just drag and drop the resulting .gpx file to the unit.
  21. Whether the Bluetooth works with a particular phone is hard to predict. Usually they do though, on Garmin nuvis at leat. Decent voice command may be hard to get in your price range. I find that it works very well on the nuvi 2495/2595, but they are over $200.
  22. Are you planning on geocaching with it? Are you in the US? What is your budget?
