  1. I find it simpler to enter coordinates on my computer, using a program like EasyGPS, and then transfer them to my GPS. It also seems to be less prone to error than using the tiny onscreen keyboard on the GPS. You can also download the waypoint files using EasyGPS. Did your Legend come with Garmin's Trip and Waypoint Manager software? I imagine you can do the same with it. Rich Owings www.MakeYourOwnMaps.com
  2. Here's three cool features of TopoFusion: Log Book - A clickable record of your trips in calendar format. Profile / Playback - Replays tracks. PhotoFusion - Places camera icons along track. Click on one to display digital photos taken at that location (uses EXIF tags). It also has sophisticated map tools. It does not allow printing at this point, except in the beta version. 3. It's expensive and definitely has a learning curve. It might help if you could reply and explain why you need such sophisticated software. If you just want to view GIS data, ArcExplorer is a free and much simpler option. If you want to use shapefiles, you might consider OziExplorer. There is a 30 day ArcView demo available from ESRI via snail mail. Rich Owings www.MakeYourOwnMaps.com
  4. A number of software programs have this capability. I like the way TopoFusion handles it, but Ozi, Fugawi and a number of CD based packages can also do this. Rich Owings www.MakeYourOwnMaps.com
  5. If you're in the U.S., USA PhotoMaps or TopoFusion (www.topofusion.com) are good choices. AFAIK, EasyGPS does not display tracks on maps or aerial photos. ExpertGPS does though. Rich Owings www.MakeYourOwnMaps.com
  6. From the Find tab, click the Help button. It brings up context sensitive help that will give you the format. Rich Owings www.MakeYourOwnMaps.com
  7. A good place to start looking is home.pacbell.net/lgalvin/drgnotes.htm. I also suggest spending some time at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OziUsers-L/. Rich Owings www.MakeYourOwnMaps.com
  8. It sounds like TopoFusion could be the best option. You can display multiple tracks, and it has sophistucated track editing tools. www.topofusion.com If you decide to use Ozi, you should try downloading DOQQs (aerial photos) and importing them into Ozi, using the attached georeference info. It's a little more complicated in terms of the initial learning curve, but there is no manual calibration required. Rich Owings www.MakeYourOwnMaps.com
  9. Hi- USAPhotoMaps should go to 1 meter/pixel. TopoFusion is another good option. Good track tools but weak route tools. If you want to calibrate images, your best bet is OziExplorer. Rich Owings www.MakeYourOwnMaps.com
