  1. Where are your caches hidden? I belong to a small, though ancient religion, called the "(deleted by moderator)." I have a nice brochure that clearly explains (and more needed to be deleted by moderator)! Oh, while there, I'll drop my ONE (you said it's ok if it's just ONE, so it IS about the numbers, I see) political tract promoting (quite a bit needed to be deleted by moderator). Then I'll place my one social tract, promoting "(deleted by moderator)." "Just try it, you never know!" Of course it may contain some pictures that you may find explicit (hearken back to my (deleted by moderator) discussion), but hey, it's just ONE tract. *sigh* Way to sit on the fence with your policies, making them so subjective only YOU can interpret them. Mr. Wisearse. [edit: eye spel gud]
  2. I see, so when you wrote, "Use common sense," I guess what you MEANT to say was, "Just do as I say." Gotcha. Way to go in expressing yourself clearly, champ. MrW.
  3. http://www.cacheintrashout.org/ http://jeep.geocaching.com/ http://unite.geocaching.com/ They're a business, and businesses are meant to make money (God, I can't believe I've been put into the position of defending Groundpseak). Groundspeak can't profit from you placing "Eat at Joe's" coupons in caches. MrW.
  4. Especially when they're not fallacious! Apparently I just need to be more explicit with you. Here, let me spell it out for you: 1. Groundspeak has made it clear from day one that geocaching isn't about agendas (political, religious, social or economic). 2. Dropping religious tracts, business solicitations (I agree with you, there), political campaigning ("Hilary or Mit 2008!"), etc, are all about pushing distinct, identifiable agendas. 3. Therefore don't drop those tracts. 4. Profit! Using my common sense, Mr. Wisearse.
  5. That seems clear enough warning for me not to push my agenda in a cache. Mr. Wisearse.
  6. Dropping religious tracts in caches is pushing an agenda, and pushing an agenda is against Groundspeak's rules. Period. Case solved. Mr. Wisearse.
  7. Thumbs up for the new Google Maps. I'm liking them so far. Well done. Mr. Wisearse.
  8. Me, too! But careful. Then we'll have all our caches added to bookmark lists by certain self-appointed "Geo-Cops" called "Abusers of the Beware Baboons Attributes." MrW.
  9. I find it both sad and humorous that you equate religious beliefs (something profound and fundamental to one's being), with hobbies and sports (things inherently trite, mundane and superficial). GO SEAHAWKS! GO CHRISTIANS! Woot! I guess I just take my religion more seriously than you do, and hence keep it to myself. MrW.
  10. All the reasons listed here by people who think it's ok to pollute caches with religious tracts are the exact things that turn so many people off from religion. Leave. Me. Alone. If I want your assistance in finding a/the God/s, I'll ask. Till then, I'll gladly take your religious tracts from caches and add them to the circular file. Why do you INSIST on "spreading your word?" Sorry, but psychologists call it reaction formation. You're actually quite insecure with your own religious beliefs, so you overcompensate by overselling them to others, in order to actually convince yourself of their validity. Shakespeare said it best in Hamlet, Act III, Scene 2: "The lady doth protest too much, methinks." The most respectable and honorable religious people I've ever met are the ones I didn't even know were religious. MrW.
  11. Except, of course, for those who wish to light up a tobacco product in a pub or bar. In those cases, law enforcement is embraced. Apparently, you believe some of the fictional cliche found in movies made there in SoCal. I have served on active duty for 18 years to protect the Constitution. Domination never entered my mind. I have no idea who you are, so I'll just assume you're a nice bloke, but.... When you say "domination never entered my mind...." Do you honestly think you'd come here and tell us if it did? MrW.
  12. To all those quick to unfurl their holy flags and drape themselves in it sanctity to slam the OP (you should slam him for other reasons ) , please take note that from a social psychologist's standpoint (which I'm not), the OP's statement is indeed grounded in some validity. Anyone who can't see the possible corruptive power and easy abuse of authority (e.g. military/civil law enforcement) needs to go back to school. Go check out Zimbardo's Stanford prison experiments, as well as Milgram's Yale studies. MrW.
  13. I just tried the prog out, and I get a "Runtime error 13, Type mismatch" error when I launch, and it then closes. FYI. MrW.
  14. I am getting a "Server is too busy" error message when trying to pull a cache page that was just emailed to me via the notification feature. Just FYI. MrW.
  15. 4:56pm Pacific time, and when I try and load a cache page, it just comes up blank. No server error, no time out, just immediately blank. MrW.
  16. Seems to be fixed now, thanks! MrW.
  17. Yep, my post timed out and only the subject line was submitted. Perhaps the gremlins have moved from the gc.com server and migrated to the forums one?! Oh my word, how folks would then raise up in arms.... MrW.
  18. Please remove: religious tract, soft (simply a prayer or inspirational thought)
  19. As alluded to earlier, where does it say geocaching is supposed to be safe? We've found numerous caches that are dangerous, yet still within the guidelines of Groundspeak's listed rules, and we consider most of these to be the fun ones. And isn't "dangerous" highly subjective, anyways? A cache that requires rappelling gear would be dangerous to us, but safe as get out to a pro. Just my two cents, MrW.
  20. Yep, I'm also unable to login. MrW.
  21. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8...32172&hl=en for GCTNR2
  22. We bought the "cup holder" RAM mount for our 60CSx, and it's worth it's weight in gold. It doesn't leave any residue on the dash or windshield, it doesn't block any field of view on your dash or windshield, and you can just pick it up and move to your other car or a friend's car as the situation dictates. We highly recommend it. MrW.
  23. It is a fun feature and we have considered it for our v.2 implementation of the web site (to be launched sometime next year). I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but if you do implement this, PLEASE let us opt out of it. Cyber-stalking is already bad enough as it is. MrW.
