  1. Wow. I can't believe I'm reading such a post from a moderator. Aren't you supposed to help foster a safe, comfortable and neutral place for geocachers to post? Instead you go on and attack the man because he holds a contrary position to the Power that Be? My God, you actually suggest he leave the game?! Nice. Talk about abuse of authority and lack of tact. MrW.
  2. Sorry, but this is a rather straw man argument. No one here is asking for a "sudden" fix. A "sudden" fix was asked for months and months (a year now?) ago. We're far past "sudden." It's easy to pan off the critics as impatient children looking a gift horse in the mouth. But that ship sailed months ago, and yet the problems still remain. MrW.
  3. It's now noon (PST) on a Wednesday and I can't submit a cache on account of the dreaded: Server Error in '/' Application. Server Too Busy MrW.
  4. I'm not so arrogant as to speculate on Groundspeak's motives. However, I prefer to judge by actions rather than words. Their words: "We see there's a prob and we're on it." That was not a day, not a week, but MONTHS ago. Their actions: *birds chirp and the servers continue to fail* You be the judge. MrW.
  5. Honestly, I could care less what all those "cool things" are, especially if I can't get onto the site and do the basics like logs caches and run PQs w/o having to worry about what time of day it is or what day of the week it is. MrW. I'm sure that this is at the top of their list, not to worry. Sorry, but I've been hearing that for many months now. At first, it felt sincere. Now, it just sounds dismissive. MrW.

  7. If the servers work 95% of the time, than I expect them to charge me 95% of the time. The fact remains, they charge me 100% of the time. Therefore I expect the servers to work 100% of the time. It's really that simple. I'm not trying to be critical, I'm just agreeing with a few others here that a lackadaisical attitude toward downtime isn't helping. Quit lowering your standards. MrW.
  8. These delays are coming BEFORE Christmas. I can't bear to think how the servers are going to be AFTER Christmas. MrW.
  9. Hi all, Trying to log caches the past couple of days has been an exercise in patience, which seems weird for a Wednesday and Thursday. Something wrong with the servers, perhaps? I'll gladly donate my monthly fees to help feed the hamsters: MrW.
  10. Hi all, Anyone else getting the "Server Too Busy" error? It's only 5:40am here in California, can't imagine that being a heavy load time. Best, Mr. Wisearse.
  11. I don't think they troll these boards, so hopefully this won't be misconstrued as a**-kissing, but I have been incredibly happy with the three reviewers in SoCal. They're wonderful. However, I hear that some cachers up in NoCal don't have it as good. Perhaps the "system/process" is just fine, and the poor reviewers simply need to be dealt with on a case by case basis? My two cents, MrW.
  12. Exapno Mapcase! (too bad that not many people out there would get THAT joke...) Too funny. Nice catch. I speak Russian, so it's funny to me. Others might have to do so research to get it. MrW.
  13. Well, I've read Marx thoroughly, and since I actually teach Marx in college history classes, I'd like to think I understand him quite well. I'm neither a Communist nor Anti-Communist. I guess that just goes to show how addle-minded and simplistic Reagan's "thought" was, only able to see the world in false dichotomies. *shrug* MrW.
  14. Try pages.google.com and if you don't have one already, get a free google host. MrW.
  15. I can't credit for solving this, but I can for finding the person who did: tamichan on the GE message boards wrote: I think I found a workaround for this problem. This may have some side-effects, but at least I could read my GPX files. 1. Go to your GE install directory, typically it is C:\Program Files\Google\Google Earth 2. Rename gpsbabel.exe to gpsbabel.exe.save (or whatever you like) 3. Download GPSBabel 1.3.2 from http://www.gpsbabel.org and unzip the downloaded file 4. Copy gpsbabel.exe and libexpat.dll from GPSBabel 1.3.2 install directory to GE install directory Note: GE seems using libexpatw.dll (Unicode version of dll?), not libexpat.dll. Tami (Masaaki) Takamiya I can tell from personal experience that this does work. However, GE 4 has a unique "feature" that shows the time line of the waypoints. If you don't expect it, it looks like only one will load. Stretch the timeline out, and you are golden. Hope this helps. VERY nice, thanks! I just tested this with GE 4.0.24.16 and it works great. Thanks again, MrW.
  16. Hi all, It seems with my latest Google Earth build (4.0.2416), I can't export .gpx files from GSAK and successfully import them into GE. Anyone else having the same problem, and if so, anyone know a work-around? Thanks, MrW.
  17. If you don't mind my saying so, I think our GCTNR2 at http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...2d-a8b35deb312e is pretty spooky. MrW.
  18. Ah, in the IT world I think they call that the "Lewinsky Syndrome." MrW.
