  1. Looks like we may have some friends down to visit on Saturday with an iPhone so we may get a chance to try it ourselves. We will try and get it working once we are home but the 8 year old forgot his iPod, even after the 100 reminders not to forget it. We also had left the house before your posting and just managed to get online now that the tent is all set up. Hubby picked a spot at the Jurassic Mega Park right near the big fire pit. Now for relaxing tonight and a bit of GPS loading then off to cache first thing in the morning.
  2. We try to always give it a week also if the logs are not right. We both have smart phones and still give the weeks leeway, hubby says part of that is my OCD. I come home and log everything in the exact order we found, DNF'ed or picked up. I am not sure if that is the accountant in me that everything has to be in the right order, if hubby is right and it is my OCD or possibly a bit of both.
  3. This is the same theory we use for loggin or DNF's.
  4. Thank you so much for the help and options. Once we get there Thursday late morning, find the campsite info and set up then we can just focus on the finds.
  5. It is 100% the CO's fault and if they have the time to place a cache they should also make the time every so often to just go do basic maintenance even if no one has posted a NM log. I take a NM log as we need to get out there ASAP to see what is going on with OUR cache, my son knows if he can not take care of the caches he puts out I will shut them down. My son is constantly cleaning out caches, bagging logs and adding swag to caches we find that need it. His words when I told him that he was using up all his swag filling other CO's caches were "That's OK mom if I help keep them full then maybe people will see that and stop emptying them out". He honestly hardly ever uses his swag for himself, he only uses it when his little bro wants something. He is more interested in grabbing all the trackables and moving them on, he is on the site almost daily trying to see where every one he has touched has gone.
  6. I agree that the log should be signed, if I am not mistaking that is one of Groundspeak's rules. I also agree that I am not one that is going out of my way to check but if I were to notice while doing maintenance that there were bad logs I would correct them. As for something I noticed though is also check dates as the names don't always match. We had new cachers around here that were signing the log with their real names and when logging on-line were using their geo-ID. I happened to run into them at a cache and let them know what issues that may cause for some CO's. That is why I mention if you are a log checker to also check dates not just names.
  7. Thank you for that but from what I managed to find out last night I don't think we will be able to do it on our own. I am sure we had the right app as it was the only one that came up with the search. So once we found his iPod and charged it we tried to install the app and got an error message "This app requires the iPhone 4.2 software". So it looks like our first plan of trying to find another group who can do them and wouldn't mind a tag along family for the fun is the way we are gonna have to go.
  8. Another quick question for the Wherigo caches. It was said I could use a iPhone to play them, which we don't have. We do have a iPod though and are wondering if we can play it on there or do we need the internet access of a iPhone. If we can do it on the iPod then does anyone know the app name we need to get? At that point I am guessing we just download it to the iPod and play it.
  9. The kid's in this house can't stop asking how many sleeps now. They are so excited to get there and do everything they can and meet as many people as possible. Ok well mainly this is all coming from the 8 year old but he is getting the 3 year old going also. I think the only thing the oldest is upset about is that his traders made specifically for this event have not got here in the yet, and we are not sure they will make it in time. We will be heading out Thursday morning and caching our way south to camp for the weekend. We should be able to pick up some new types we have never done, the only one we are having an issue figuring out is Wherigo. We are hoping we can meet someone who need it and knows how to do them that we can join in a group and find. I think our first problem is we have a lower end GPS that doesn't play them?
  10. With it being summer and people are on holidays, some not being able to have access to a computer or internet. You may want to give it a little longer than a couple days. I am only saying this as last summer I got a very nasty e-mail after grabbing a tag from someone and logging it. I had waited about 5 days to grab it as my boys wanted to put it back out in the wild and I told them we had to wait till the logging caught up. I guess they were on a month trip with no computer access and had dropped it about 2 days before we found it and that was at the beginning of their trip. Just something we dealt with and a warning to others .... I now wait for at least a week if not longer if a traveler I pick up is not there.
  11. I had a feeling it may happened Just let us know when you'll also receive the replacement mission Not sure if a replacement was sent out for this one as I had stated to give it a few more day. If one was I will keep an eye out, other wise I think all is good. Thank you again
  12. Yep once the post office caught up with the holidays and the weather we GOT it. Thank you allied OZ I will let him open it up when he gets home from school. Mom
  13. Sorry all I have been viewing the forum but I don't post a lot, so until trying to post this I didn't realize I was even logged out. Now on to question at hand: No Kaleb has not received his card yet but as was already posted mail is not always the fastest. Also we are in an area where snow has caused a bunch of mess so I am also up for waiting a while longer to see if it shows up. Between the holidays, normal mail timing and the weather it is passable it is just delayed.
  14. Kaleb has yet to receive his .... no panic yet mail has been slow around here.
  15. Again sorry for no pictures if we ever get our camera back from the repair place I will get some, maybe soon as they told us we would have it for Christmas. Really not holding my breath as it has been over a month already but fingers crossed. He got a very nice sparkle heart that reads "Love you Cache", he also got a PTC tag in the package which happened to be one we were missing. The card will be added to our card wall, Thank you! 17. We finally got our coins in so ours will be sent out this week.
  18. I am wondering if it is just me or is anyone else finding that the sleeves coins come in are getting thinner or something. We just ordered a bunch of coins and over half of them have the sleeves cracking. Now as we are gifting some of these coins my son wants to log them, once/if they are ever activated. I am told him I would try and find out if that is frowned upon. He figures if he has the tracking number then he can log the coin, I am thinking it may not be a legit log. Any chiming in on this would be great.
  19. These were mainly purchased for a Christmas coin swap so that is why I was trying to find out. Back to find other ones for this purpose then. Thanks for the help all
  20. Hmmm ok, thank you for the info. I guess the kid can use them as swag then, we will see what he wants to do. I am hoping to find more info on the Maddog one, there is a number so I wonder what that is for.
  21. I received some coins I had purchased recently, all great and love them. With 2 of them though there are no tracking numbers. The first one is orange, shaped like Texas and has Hedge Hoppers written on it, there are no numbers on this one what so ever. The second is purple sparkle, round with a paw print and has Team Maddog written on it, it does have a 3 digit number on it just that number takes me to a completely different coins page. TIA for the help as I have no clue where to find out this info.
  22. No problem the same thing happens around here also. I just wanted to know cause we only check our mail normally once a week here and I have an 8 year old bouncing off the walls. "are they here yet"
  23. Just wondering approx mail date so I know when to keep my eyes open for them.
  24. We are waiting for the coins for this to arrive, sorry we thought we were getting prepared for the final date. Ours will all be mailed out as soon as the TC's arrive with us.
