  1. I'm still a newbie to geocaching, but I bring a dog or two more often than not... They are trained for tracking, but haven't found any caches yet. They're too interested in the squirrels!
  2. Travelling has always been fascinating to me so I try to indulge all my hobbies wherever I go. My wife is an avid dog trainer. We have three German Shepherd Dogs who compete in a sport called Schutzhund - sort of a canine triathlon: obedience, tracking & protection. Our dogs have competed in events all over the U.S. and even crossed the border into Canada once. The dogs love to go cacheing! I also enjoy disc golf, recording/collecting live music performances, thai & indian cuisine, and homebrewing. Having lived in France and Quebec, I speak french and enjoy keeping my language skills up even though I haven't been to a francophone country for ten years. I work in computers at a major university. Through my job I get to take classes for free. Currently I'm studying The Music Of The Beatles. Pretty cool class so far! I'm very passionate about music. I mess around on my guitar, harmonica and Hammond organ but don't play any of them very well - it's still fun! Last year I started riding my bike regularly and tried to do the regional MS150 ride. I made it through the first day (75 miles) but was too sore to complete the second. I'll be training harder this year and hope to complete the whole thing. I just got a handlebar mount for my eXplorist 300
  3. Just wanted to add my $0.02: I'm a newbie who just got a Magellan eXplorist 300 for xmas. After a few excursions where I walked in circles much more than necessary, I finally figured out using the compass feature with GoTo. It ROCKS! It shows you exactly which way to move and how far away you are. I can't imagine doing it any other way now. FWIW, my wife is a forester and does lots of work with map/compass. She spent the big bucks on a nice Silva, and she swears by it.
  4. I just booked a flight this week for some late January travel. While it's not my primary motivation to go, I'll certainly seek out some caches while there. I have added geocaching to the list of interests I always pursue when travelling: live music, disc golf, brewpubs and thai cuisine. My upcoming trip is to Minnesota. Even if it's 20 below, a walk in a frozen park is still better than sitting around in a hotel room!
  5. 1 Gig SD card for $59.99 at MicroCenter: http://www.microcenter.com/images/specials..._page01_760.gif
  6. Instead of coal, my wife gave me a Magellan explorist 300. Thanx honey! Can't wait to get out this weekend!!!
