You saw the event log of the geonick that said they took it, right? That log said they would tell you how to get it back. Yep, I saw that within the first few days. Last night, there were a few discovered logs of folks that saw it at a GBA event. I was contacted by the cacher that absconded it...and it's all good. I wasn't planning on keeping it myself anyway. It is now doing what I had hoped it would do, and that is visit other events. I was initially worried that it had been thrown out or stolen, but once I was assured it was all meant to be fun...I was very relieved.

I would venture to say we will see an increase in the rate as we get closer. As much as I'd like to see it be an actual new cacher on that account, I am guessing some folks will be grabbing extra accounts trying to get the number...

Wow that is a great idea! Dave why don't you do it! We could visit our in-laws and drive across the country with the kids and everything. Perfect! <_< Of course, we could move it to Northern California...since I noticed our missing banner was logged at a GBA coin event last night!

The West Coast usually has pretty good weather, and there are plenty of other things to do or see here. Has anyone considered hosting this event in California?

I'm not sure if this will work...but I'll try. I put all the names that I know that attended. For the parties I knew the number, I added them. Some of the logs indicate more that one person, but since I don't know for sure, I didn't fill them in. If any of you can help me fill in the blanks...it will save a lot of email time! Now...let's see if I can cut and paste numbers out of a spreadsheet! That IS odd - I am able to load it using both Firefox and Internet Explorer. Yep, opens every time for me in IE... BTW, I sent Clay4 an email asking him/them to delete one of their attendeds. It appears to be an accidental double post. I don't want to alarm them with a deletion notification, so I am giving them a chance to get rid of it...if all else fails, I'll get it done myself. Even if we don't have Mega this time, if we are close enough, they may let the next one list as Mega ahead of time, whick will raise awareness of the event.

I agree that finding Member Only Caches is probably the least of all the reason to become a paying member. I don't know exactly how many members there are or how they break down, however, you can get a rough guess by looking at the members function of the forums. There is a link above between "Search" and "Calendar" that will take you to a page where you can sort on different member types. There are approximately: 155020 members (non-paying) 49190 Premium Members 1710 Charter Members How this actually breaks down is unknown. No telling how many non-paying members are actually un-used, bad, or abandoned accounts, or the number of additional accounts for a paying member, or simply sock puppets. I'm thinking, simply by judging the activity of cachers in our area, the majority of legitimate active accounts are paying members. Hey CR...I've got a question then.. In another thread, we have been tracking the Member numbers...the 1,000,000 member should be assigned within the next day or two. So, where are all the other accounts in your totals above? Are there that many "Unverified" memberships out there? I don't expect you to have the answer...I was just wondering if you or anyone else knew...

It does not cost anything to have an account. My two kids both have non-premium accounts. They sign their names on the logs we find, but they don't really care to log them online. Sock-Puppets are accounts folks use for varying reasons...some nefarious, others are ok. For example, many of the reviewers have a separate reviewer account, and log their caching activities on their personal account. The most common use of the term Sock-Puppet though happens when someone starts posting inflammatory statements in the forums. They use the fake accounts to try and remain anonymous...though they usually get caught anyway. I have a second account just because I though of a name I liked, and thought I may use it some day. I've only made one forum post with it, but I would like to make a coin with that account someday...it has cool possibilities.

Could you run your script for me one more time? I'm curious to see if anything changes. There were 4 or 5 names that are not on the list, but that have logged the cache. Since they are back dating their logs to reflect the event day, they appear to have been "missed", but I know that isn't the case. I copied the names off your list and put them in a spread sheet. There are many teams on there that I know, and I have adjusted the total attended for their party accordingly. I will be sending out an email to those cachers I don't know personally asking for the total number in their party. I'd like to try and figure out a total attended number if possible. If you click on anyone's name, it will take you to their profile. Up in your address bar, the last bit of info on the address is the member number. Highlight that, and change it...right now you can change it to 998991 at it will show you the last member signed up. If you increase it, you will eventually get to a non valid number, and you will know we aren't there yet! As of this post....1009 memberships until the 1 Meg mark!

When I checked this morning, it had jumped by 414 members! At this rate, it will hit the million mark within a couple of days! I started a new thread over HERE.
