  9. try to download the file again... it should work just fine!
  10. it's being developed a spoiler/image download tool for the Garmin GPSrs, as well as a change to the inclusion of the links in logs, photos, etc... If you donate, you will have the option to include the links or not! Maybe during the next week we can release the new version!
  11. I don't think we need to limit cache descriptions to the paperless device limits. Like Lil Devil suggested, a limit of 1 or 2 MB would be more than sufficient. As I have mentioned above, I do not object against a limit that just weeds out occasional pathological examples due to bad html code or something the like. I just do not want that a limit is introduced that is based on paperless device limits and weeds out many interesting caches. I have not thought about whether 1 MB is reasonable or whether this is too tight. One would need to check with respect to some involved ECs. My caches have a long texts, but typically not many pictures. Some Ecs also need a lot of images. Cezanne you should not have a problem, as the images are not included in a "normal" cache page... only these problematic cache descriptions created with ms word or similar have these codes that are not used! In a regular html page, with the image stored on the geocaching or another server, a image should not take more than 100 bytes or so in the html! You could have hundreds of pictures with a 1MB cache description limit! I don't think this is a problem!
  12. get the gpx for this one: http://coord.info/GC38V5Z it has a 1.8MB gpx because of a huge description that includes a word image that is never shown!
  13. I would really like to see a limit being implemented again, as limitless cache descriptions are just useless and as eigengott said, break paperless and smartphone geocaching!
  14. This is silly! Why would someone need to have descriptions of limitless size? It breaks paperless geocaching and smartphone caching!
  15. yes, that cache included in a PQ that I have occupies around 50% of the size in a 400 caches PQ...
  16. Again....images are not included in PQ files. again... try to download the gpx of that cache and tell us the size of it.
  17. There is already a limit to the number of characters in the text. what's that limit? I can't seem to find anything about it, and tried with a 5 million characters description and it saved it! I hope it's not the 2GB limit imposed by the text type in SQL (1GB now that it is Unicode) or 2048GB if the new varchar(max) type is in use...
  18. so how about this cache: http://coord.info/GC38V5Z ??? doesn't it have a problem in the description? Imagine 1000 like that and figure out the size of the PQ!
  19. if there was a limit to the cache description data size, these errors would not arrive to the reviewers...
  20. new version 0.3.45 that corrects a bug introduced in the last build, and adds option add a title and description to photos (before they were the same) available here: http://www.geopt.org/index.php?option=com_phocadownload&view=file&id=35:geoptorg-geocaching-tools&Itemid=963
  21. because even for a desktop user, it makes no sense to download a 2MB cache description. In the limit, imagine a Pocket query with 1000 caches with just 1MB cache description, excluding logs and all other info... Do you know how big it would be? 1GB!!! Does this make any sense? I am a desktop user, using gsak, and I think that cache description data size should be limited!
  22. I don't think it exists! I've just tried to create a description with 5 million character (5MBs) and it worked just fine... Who would ever need such a description?
