  1. I have caches near creeks and rivers here in SouthEastern Minnesota, but I'm a little too busy cleaning out my house and helping my neighbors who have lost EVERYTHING to worry about caches. They can stand to be a DNF for awhile. My internet came back on yesterday (I'm still without sewage or water [it's been more than a week]) and I'm perusing my 400+ emails and responding to all my friends inquiring about me and decided to quickly browse through the forum digests I get when I saw this. Yes, caches may have been displaced, but so have some CACHERS! stickerooni (of the city of Rushford, MN - 90% gone by flood)
  2. I've been leaving real coins pretty regularly for the last year+. It was kind of nicce at an event recently, when I introduced myself a couple of people said, "Oh, yeah, I've been seeing your coins." But yesterday I was going through my list to see what was up with some that haven't moved in a long time. After checking logs and such I've listed four as "missing/" Not a bad ratio, but that's $40 or more. I don't mind doing it for the caching community, but it sure burns me if I'm feeding someone else's collection at my expense! Nevertheless, I activated 10-15 coins yesterday in anticipation of my vacation trek to the Black Hills.

  5. Wow. There were no repsonses when I went to fill this out. Congrats to the winner!
  6. Ronald Reagan said the line "Where's the rest of me?" in the movie King's Row, and then titled his 1965 autobiography based on that line. The actual town was Fulton, MO.
  7. As do I. I haven't heard of any issues yet, but I did see that someone pulled one of my coins from a cache that was filled with cardboard and photocopied coins.
  8. You don't even need a digital camera--most coins have been photographed by the coin owners or manufacturers and have been posted on web site. Find the photo, right click and save the photo to your computer, and up-load to the coin page.
  9. Welcomes to our world. The world of geocoin addicts. Yous is welcome to be a coin addict too!
  10. I got my laptop geocoins a couple of days ago! SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!!!
  11. It's definitely a 35mm film slide case. I've got a few with slides that were my father's and some that were my grandfather's.
  12. I cache and release most of my coins, but I selected one that I "dip." I started this coin Jan 1 and the purpose is to track my own caching miles for one year. At the end of the year I plan to release that coin into the wild and then start another one. There is no purpose except that it's fun for me to see how much caching I'm doing. And it's fun to compare to some of the coins that are wild.
  13. The design is top priority. It needs to catch my eye and grab me somehow. As for metals ... doesn't mean a thing to me. Sometimes I feel like making the same coin in different metals is just a way to make more money. I'll look at the pictures and ususally try to decide which metal looks best with that design. Sometimes I'll buy all with the intent to trade later down the line. Since I like to activate and release, I really won't look at the non-trackable. I prefer coins that aren't really specific to a particular person -- but if the look is good, that doesn't matter too much. And I'm not realy big on the cartoon-y looking coins. Just a preference.
  14. My father is a freemason and he's been trying for years to get me to join. I'd be very interested in picking up some of these when they are on sale!!!

  16. That's a really nice looking coin. Order placed.
  17. Easy. My favprite is the first one I ever held in my hands -- the Dressel Dragons geocoin. I thought it was beautiful when I first saw it, and I still think so.
  18. I believe this is frowned upon by Groundspeak. There really is nothing geocaching at all about this. Hold the coin, whether at an event or from a cache. I've been known to hit caches three or four times, sometimes difficult to get to, in order to see a coin that I've never seen. I don't need to do this, but there is a satisfaction in my mind that every icon in my profile represents a coin I've held and admired.
  19. I like it. I'd get one for me and for my kids.
  20. If you keep track of the coin code you can searchh for a coin by the coin code (not just the TB# that's assigned to it).
  21. You've done nothing wrong. THe coin owner is too anxious and unweilding. I'd be happy to have you grab any of my coins! Don't worry. Ignore his emails. THere is nothing he can do except make you feel bad...and you have nothing to feel bad about! At least the owner knows where his coin is! He should be happy about that. I dropped a coin last week. Checked hours later and it was gone, but still hasn't been reported as being grabbed.
