  1. Sounds like fun. I've sent the email. geocoincollection.com is not taking any new users at this time.
  2. Yeah. There's a Gringott's Cache in Iowa that stashes coins. I've had a couple coins in and out of there.
  3. Here's one in MN that has some specific coin/bug drop requirements: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...13-9bd0c4d0037a
  4. You don't say whether or not this person received a coin and was responding, or just someone who heard about the idea. If this person has not received a coin, I would gladly pay for a coin to be sent to him/her. It sounds as though s/he needs it. If it was someone who received a coin and was responding, then that's very sad. Sad that they've done something to get them to be nominated but have such a negative outlook. Yes, it's worth it. There will probably always be a few whose outlook on nearly everything is cynical. Perhaps we can't raise their spirits, but we can raise the spirits of everyone around them.
  5. Agreed. I know I haven't always been as quick to respond to things. I'm sure we all get hundreds of emails in our in-box every day. Sometimes I find important emails in my spam box when I take the time to look through it. Had it been me, I'm not sure I would have responded much sooner. Sure, I'd have responded when I saw the email ... possibly weeks afterward even. But I would have gotten around to it. It doesn't sound to me that the person was intentionally "jerking you around," and you did finally get a response. Not everyone gets a response to their coin queries. It sounds like you've taken this very personally, but unless the cacher knew you, or how important the coin was to you, I doubt this was malicious in any way. Heck, how nice it was that they even took the trouble to ask if it was okay to take it out of the country.
  6. On your coin's GC.com web page, on the right hand side is a list of options. Click on "Print Info Sheet" and you've got a nice piece of paper with the coin's mission and goal, etc.
  7. Welcome to the sport! One of the nice things about geocaching is that you can do it when YOU want to. Yeah, the camera is a great idea. Some really cool places -- I've found some in my own "backyard" that i didn't even know where here. Also try to always bring a pen or pencil -- lots of them don't work in caches, and some don't have 'em at all. There's quite a list of things that you should bring, but mostly, just have fun! stickerooni
  8. Without knowing what coin you have it's difficult to tell you where to go to get the activation code. There are a couple of places that you can try. First, I'd try http://coincodes.com/ . If that doesn't seem to work, I'd go to this great geocoin blog: http://cachebug.blogspot.com/. On the right hand side are a listing of coin sellers (and it lists the countries they're from). You could fairly easily check out those links. If you're sure it's from a Canadian producer, there are a couple of Canadian coin dealers. I hope that works for you! stickerooni
  9. If the coin has an instruction page, does it also list who released it? If so, try contacting them and asking what you should do with it. Perhaps they could update the traveller's page. The intent, certainly, was to have it travel. But if there's no way to keep track of it's travels, then I'd agree that it could be considered swag, but see if you can find an owner.
  10. Order placed. Thanks. Coin looks good, and icon looks great!
  11. You need to make sure that you have officially "retrieved" the coin, and then you need to "drop" it. You can drop it when you log your visit to the cache, or you can post a note for the cache and drop the coin with the note. When you write your note, at the bottom of the screen should be a list of all the travel bugs and coins in your possession and you can select the one you want to drop.
  12. It's written entirely in the second person, an unusual format for writing.
  13. I have purchased coins at the eBay site and been just fine with them. Gotten a couple REAL good deals, in fact. HOWEVER ... a couple of times I've been about to bid then decided to look around and found that I can still purchase the coin from the manufacturer at much less than the starting bid price. i suggest you do some research. These boards are a good starting point. Have fun!
  14. HAPPY HOLIDAYS !!!! I won't be sitting here trying to win, but I can add a post to help the next person along. Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanza, Happy Chanuka ... SEASONS GREETINGS.
  15. I'm going to guess that the "8" in your ID is more than just a great joke, and venture that you have 5 Boys and 3 Girls.
  16. HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE !!!!!!
  17. I can see that I'm not even close, but decided that in the spirit of this, I'd like to wish you and all others reading here a very Happy Holidays!
  18. Oh, yeah! I opened mine today, too. How wonderful! And what great timing ... just as I was beginning to think I'm spending too much on coins and need to cut back, Oakcoins makes sure I won't cut back on them! I haven't checked, but it wouldn't surprise me a bit if these were all on that ePlace already.
  19. I went to a CITO event today and dropped a coin into a cache that had not yet been officially logged. When i got home, I see that the cache is now "official" and that someone has "grabbed" the coin from me (not waiting for me to log it as dropped into the cache. I am the coin owner, but I still don't see a way to "drop" the coin before it was taken. Do I have to "grab" it back, then drop it? Thanks for the help.
  20. I asked this same question last week. If you go to your coin's web page (created when you activate it), look on the right hand side of the page. Under "Trackable Items Options" is a link to "Print Info Sheet." This might be just what you're looking for. There are some others out there. Search this forum for my id name and you should see some responses that I got when I asked this. Happy Caching!
  21. I placed an order for two last night (Wed) at 10pm. I did get a confirmation email that the order was successful, but that could be just a standard automatic reply. I haven't heard anything else.
