Hellooooooo, I have had my GPS for about a year...maybe two? Anyhow, my brother in law has a Garmin Etrex and we go caching together all the time. My complaint is that his cheapie unit has all kinds of street names and the streets showing up on his navigation screen while my high dollar (to me) Magellan Meridian Marine unit shows NOTHING but interstates and highways. Did I get ripped off, do I need a different firmware version? Or is the only way I can compete to actually purchase mapping software? I think that would be lame and add more to the price to get basically to where he is with a Garmin. I only bought the marine because it was waterproof, not to use the marine functionality. thanks in advance for any info you very experienced users may provide. So I opened the package up and found this pretty thick book with my Magellan Meridian Marine unit. Wow, almost 1/2 inch thick. So I get to reading..... 8 total pages on how to use it in ENGLISH. The rest of the book is in foreign languages. Magellan dropped the ball as far as I am concerned. I had to download the .pdf file from their website and print it out. From there I took it to kinkos and had it spiral bound like a book with clear cover and black plastic back cover. Then I had to do the same for my brother-in-law's Garmin Etrex Vista. These companies make it hard for us newbies to get going using ALL the features of these pricey units. Was anyone else disappointed by this?

Thanks Peter, That's a total bummer. I figure they could have come up with a way to feed external antenna data through the NMEA connector. I wonder how good the accuracy is with these re-radiating antennas as opposed to the internal on my unit? Joker11

I can't find an external antenna for my Magellan Meridian Marine. Does it exist? Support from the website has failed to answer 5 of my questions. And I read all the FAQs and the entire owners manual front to back 3 times. I won't go in to the other questions on this thread.....thanks Joker11
