  1. I have seen several cache pages where there is a photo or image that goes along with the theme of the cache under the info section. How do I get photo to appear there with the info? THanks
  2. Thanks for the info. I cannot find them on Cheaperthandirt.
  3. I know the answer to this topic is here somewhere, but I am not finding it. Please direct me to the location of where to purchase these nice size containers. Thanks
  4. A while back I saw info somewhere on signing up for the first ever geocaching magazine. I now cannot find that info. Does anyone know how to sign up for a subscription to it? I thought I read it was to come out this spring or summer. Thanks.
  5. OK. yes, this is a home pc windows XP and I am the administrator. I just went out yesterday and purchased a refurbished palmIIIxe with software this time. I placed the disk in the drive and clicked to setup for install. It wanted to place it in C:/ just like the downloaded setup from palm wanted to do. I do not have a drive C:/ on my pc, it is labeled E:/, so I changed the location to place the files. It accepts this change and downloads the files to my pc. But, once again it stalls on installation with Error 1327 Invalid Drive C:/, System has not been modified. I went to Microsoft and downloaded the latest version of ActiveSync, but this is still not helping to get desktop software installed. The pc will still not reconize the palm connection to the pc. How do I modify the system? I need big help. Vacation coming soon and hoped to be going paperless by then. Heading to the Big Thicket of SouthEast Texas and attempt a few caches. Thanks for any advice, again, TexasTornados
  6. I purchased a Palm IIIxe but with no software. I could download the software ok from palm website, but could not install, even with great help from fellow geocachers. (I am selling it now.) My question is do all handhelds work with windows XP? Many of them, i noticed, do not have the xp listed on the pc requirements note. Will they work anyway? I am ready to go paperless, but want to buy the right model first with software this time. Caching is really all I will use the device for. Any and all info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  7. We have been very pleased with our selection of the Magellan Sportrac Color. Of course, its the only one we have ever had. It puts us right on the cache and has been right on on the caches I have hidden according to other cachers. I like the waypoint averaging it has and the compass is the screen I most use in honing in on the cache.
  8. I have now downloaded Palm desktop for windows version 4.1.0 and clicked to install and it stops install before completing with error 1327 INvalid Drive C:/. System has not been modified. ???? What to do now? Thanks for any advice, I getting close to putting it back on ebay and continuing with paper caching.
  9. I just purchased as instucted on one of the posts, a Palm IIIxe to use for pocket queries. I only received the handheld device with cradle. How do I go about getting it to communicate with my PC? No manuel or software. I downloaded the GPX Spinner and the Plucker and Plucker Desktop, but I must need other things downloaded for the palm to work??? I have version 3.5.0 PalmIIIxe handheld. Any ideas? If I can get this up and running, I then will become premium member as to use pocket queries. Thanks, confused new palm owner.
  10. I found the info on earlier posts. Sorry for duplicate question. Thanks for the answer a few posts earlier.
  11. I think I am ready to hide my first cache and I will need one of those narrow strips of paper for the log book. How do I go about getting one to copy or how do I make one? You know the one.......with the geocaching info printed on it and then the small log entry lines below that. Thanks for any help here.
  12. Today, near a creekbed in Dallas, TX. my compass pointed to a tree about 8' away. As I got within 3' of it I noticed something in the ivy growth around the tree. It was a 3' water moccasin.Im glad I was not on camera, as I made one scarry face and bolted away! For just a moment I thought it was part of the game. I picked up a rotten limb and stabbed at its head, only angering it to striking at the air. It then slithered under a rock beside the tree. My compass continued to point to the tree. I then saw the cache in the fork about a foot from the last place I saw the snake! I poked around for quite sometime to scare the snake away and then got the nerve to grab the cache. I checked it out some 10 yards away from hiding site and then quickly replaced it. My next stop was at Academy Sports to purchase a walking stick. Please be very careful out there in the non developed parks!
  13. I have a new magellan sportrac color and want to get the best software map downloads for my money. I like the idea of turn by turn directions with the mapsend direct. Is anyone familiar with the direct and is it worth the extra $$ over the topo? Thanks
  14. Very new to geo-caching. Found first today. Which is best way to use GPS, degrees or UTM coordinates? Thanks
