  1. No coin group here, when it was time, I refreshed, clicked the LE for 4 and when I hit buy, it said no more available!!!!!!!
  2. bigcountryshawn, Glad to have you on board! That's the thing about living in a rural area, sometimes there are not a lot of caches close by. While doing a search on GC.com starting in Middleton, there are 1003 caches within 100 miles and 214 within 50 miles so there are a few available, it just may take a little driving. Be looking for a few more in the Chickasaw State Park area in the near future. Be sure to check out Geocachers of West Tennessee as there are a lot of active cachers in the area. Cache ya later, Damon BigDaddyD

  8. Thanks CacheDragons, that is more of what I was looking for but I still think a frequently updated sticky here on the Geocoin Discussion thread would be nice too! Even this list is not all inclusive, there are several more Geocoins out there that have unique icons that are not listed on this page.
  9. Not exactly the type of information I was referring to. I was looking for a list similar to the one Will2003 has in his sig line but with accurate coin names and information. Geocoin Icons
  10. There may be another thread that discusses this somewhere but I couldn't find it. I am looking for a list of all Geocoins with unique GC.com icons. Maybe there could be a way to have a "sticky" list that can be updated when new Geocoins with unique GC.com icons become available. Any ideas?????? If this already exists, point me in the right direction.
  11. What about a Geocoin for APE caches? There may be one already, if so, I haven't seen it.
  12. Just wondering how often this happens to you frequent coin traders. Is this a rare occurrance in the GC community, or does it happen more often than you would like. Mailing coins to others in trade and not receiving my trade coins would definately cause some angst!!!!!
  13. We received our coins in the mail 12/27 and are really impressed! This coin fits you very well BBB if only there was a little smoke coming off the tire!!!
  14. Good job on the coin BBB, or should I say B1/2!!!! We are gonna try to grab our 2 LE coins and a handfull of the others as well.
  15. Thanks for this information, I couldn't figure out what was wrong. "Sorry, but you do not have permission to use this feature" kind of worried me there for a minute.
  16. I get nothing but a blank green screen!!! It's kind of a pretty green, but I wish it contained a few words!!!!
  17. Welcome to caching in West Tennessee! Don't forget your Tecnu! Check out our local group as well, Geocachers of West Tennessee
  18. Personally I was surprized two webcam caches on the same webcam on the same street were approved, but I am not an approver. This R.A.S.H. (Recreation, Activity, Sport, Hobby) that we all participate in can be played in many different ways by many different people. Maybe some people will enjoy finding one webcam cache and walking 500 ft and loging another cache on the same webcam. That's allright with me!
  19. As I stated in our local forum, I was passing through this area a few weeks ago and happened to notice the turbine display at Picwick Dam. It is a public display, sitting off to itself, and intended for all to see. It has an informational sign in plain view explaining the importance of the turbine to this area. When I drove by, I told my wife,"that sure would be a nice spot for a virtual cache." I guess if you didn't grow up in the Tennessee Valley, you really don't understand the impact that the TVA and the various dams had on this area. Thus the reason for a virtual in this spot, to explain that to "non river-rats." I can fully understand the reluctance to approve some virtual caches, such as "rotting carcass in the woods", but some virtuals are very interesting. I personally enjoy virtual caches and hope to see them continue but with proper judgement by the cache approvers. True virtuals should be for interesting/historical areas that are not open for the placement of any other type of cache. Proper judgement shouldn't mean that none are approved. Just my opinion for what it's worth. BigDaddyD
  20. Thanks for all the information. I knew this forum would be there for me. ElDiablo, I have been to your site, Today's Cacher, many times and seen your examples of various staff models and am looking to use my own creativity to develop a staff for my wife and myself of similar caliber. I just was unsure about the drying process and didn't want to put a lot of effort into a staff only to have it crack/break quickly. Thanks to everyone again for your input. BigDaddyD
  21. After doing several forum searches for proper ways to cure wood for a staff, I decided to ask the expert opinion of the forum. I was interested in making my own wood hiking staff and wondered if anyone knew the proper way to cure the wood to make it more sturdy and reliable. What are the best types of wood to use, hardwood vs. softer wood, etc. Ways you have modified your own staff, straps, tips, engravings, add-ons etc. How do you judge the proper length of you staff depending on your height etc. Post pictures of your prize staff here. Thanks in advance for your help.
