Less than two weeks until this camping event. Anyone wishing to camp needs to phone the site, Church Farm, and make a booking asap. Details on the cache event page -
We could have had a General Election and a brand new government in less time than this is taking. Keep up the good work Deci - I for one do not expect super duper quick review of new caches, not that I have submitted any lately.

By chance I came across this on the WWW. Maybe of use/interest to somebody.

Cache Sizes and Circular Walks
The Cache Hoppers replied to PopUpPirate's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
I've done the two series set by a mystery cacher, mentioned above my Lotho - they were micros, but the fact that they were circular walks in absolutely fabulous places, meant we weren't too bothered. We knew in advance so were pre-loaded with treats for the children. I think its nice to put out a mixture, a bit like our Philosopher's Stone series (now adopted) in the Cotswolds. It doesn't cost a lot more, and there's not a lot more effort involved. It's more fun for everyone if there are a few surprises along the way - innovative use of unusual items as caches, some clever engineering, may be something funny in the box which pops out when you open it, or it could make a funny noise when you take the lid off, etc etc. -
Thanks for the update Dave. I just can't understand why on earth it takes so long.

It does seem odd that there have been no apparent developments - I know of one well known cacher who has put his hand up for the job and yet he hasn't been approached, so far as I know. I would have thought that volunteers would be in very short supply and therefore any such offers would be snapped up.

Try organising shared caching trips on your regional geocaching forums - cachers in the South East have had several successful caching outings organised this way. Having a quick look at the list of regional forums, I'm not sure you have one in your area though -

Oxfordshire Cachers Monthly Meet
The Cache Hoppers replied to Mad H@ter's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Well strictly speaking I am a Berkshire cacher, but if you would like a meet around Wallingford, Didcot, Dorchester, Benson, somewhere like that, I would be happy to volunteer to organise it if no one else wants or is able to. I have spied a few suitable places on my travels. -

Event caches - any top tips for finding them?
The Cache Hoppers replied to scottpa100's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
It's true that - loads of rain throughout the summer, upsetting a few events along the way, and at Lancs event last year I got sunburnt! It was lovely weather, and although it was dark a bit earlier, we were all sat around until quite late around Bob's firepit, eating PuP's chilli con carne and rice. PuP was kn*ckered though .... Back to the OP: Scott ... set up a PQ for events, dont forget to include CITO ones, set the dates from current date (which will then not show events passed) up to end December 2009, set the country to UK only, preview the search and then bookmark the results, et voila! All the info you need with one click. Change the start date every now and then to clear out events already gone - you won't need to update your bookmark list The event info does still show on Geocache UK. - click the link and scroll down. -

A little birdie told me that a Lancs camping event is very very likely .... I think the plan is for around the end of September. -
Pointless Micro Caches

As stated by GC.com: "Geocaching is an entertaining adventure game for gps users. Participating in a cache hunt is a good way to take advantage of the wonderful features and capability of a gps unit. The basic idea is to have individuals and organizations set up caches all over the world and share the locations of these caches on the internet. GPS users can then use the location coordinates to find the caches." If the cache site is interesting so much the better, but it doesn't have to be. The "entertainment" is supposed to be the use of the gps. Where is the adventure in a cache stuffed in a supermarket carpark? I take the OP's point, but to answer PKLong there is one in a supermarket near me and I haven't been able to get it yet, despite a couple of attempts, because of muggle traffic. I havent made a special trip there, just had a go whilst I have been passing. That's a bit of an adventure isn't it? I will be chuffed to bits when I eventually grab it. After a few enquiries I know exactly where it is, and what it looks like, so next time I will return victorious ... hopefully I like macroderma's idea ... would I like to find it - seems a good test. -

Gowenhouse are holding their annual event "Picnic in the Park" on Sunday 13 July 2008 at the Tithe Barn, Bradford on Avon. For those who would like to make a weekend of it, come and camp with us at Church Farm, Winsley which is a short distance from the picnic venue. This is a small campsite, so if you want to be guaranteed a pitch, please log a Will Attend as quickly as possible. The campsite has toilets, showers, laundry and dishwashing facilities. There are a few electric hook ups available which are available on a first come first served basis. There is shared use of a fridge, freezer and microwave oven. We will be camping for two nights: Friday 11 July and Saturday 12 July, although if anyone wants to stay longer this can more than likely be arranged. For more info click here
