I'm sorry if there is a topic about this somewhere but I did so a search and nothing came up. Anyway, did anyone notice that the thought-to-be-extinct Ivory-Billed Woodpeckers were recently spotted in Cache River Nat'l Wildlife Refuge? Thought that was interesting and wanted to see if anyone else noticed.

The first time i went caching with nashbash88, we were climbing a steep hill, when he grabbed a tree and shook it, sending a 2 inch thick branch down onto my head. I think i might have had a mild concussion from that, and i was seeing double and a little dizzy. Then, a few weeks later, i went caching with him again, and as we were about to jump down like 6 feet to look for a cache, he mockingly shook a tree i was next to and said "look I can shake it." Simultaneously, a tree branch fell down and smacked me on the head. Needless to say I was a little irritated. I have to reconsider who i go caching with

who was the first cacher to find 100 FTF's.... I have no idea who that is, so i guess it would take research! Also.... First cacher to place 100 caches, or do 100 caches? I have no idea who any of these are... but i think you might overestimating the geocaching population. Not everyone visits the forums and therefore wouldn't know lots of the answers to some of these.

I found a dead coyote once, about 20 feet from a cache. Another time, I followed mountain lion prints all the way up to and around a cache i was doing. Whenever I cache, I make sure to have a walking stick....or as i like to call it, a "beat down" stick.

want a way to amass huge post numbers? Make a chain-story thread where everyone only posts one word. It would have to be geocache-pertaining sentences, of course

I don't know the whole deal about geocoins or anything, but it seems to me like it would be really selfish to actually keep one forever. Weren't the coins put out to be moved around the country and be seen and admired by many cachers around the country? Its like when the president campaigns. People that admire him go and get a glimpse of their "treasure", so why wouldn't we do the same in caching? (I know the president probably wasn't the greatest analogy, but don't flame me) Anyway i can see how people keep them a while then pass them to friends, but I think the coins should be circulated as well. Its no fun owning a golden pimp mobile if you can't share it with others, so its probably not fun owning a geocoin and not sharing. Just my thoughts, go easy on me. and yes....golden pimp mobile.

I think since you have the elevation variable, a way to calculate straight walks and uphill climbs together would be go by how long they take the average person to complete. Significant hike, to me, means something I can't start after school and finish before dark. So like 4 hours total would be significant. Just an opinion.

I haven't been caching too long, but the best thing i ever found was a headlamp. I mean whats worth more than freedom of hand movement + light in the dark?

Personally i think what he said is fine. He is using his first amendment rights, and didn't use profanity. I think if someone places a lame micro, people who log it have the right to say "it's a lame micro".

7 pages and one typo....thanks for noticing. Anyway on to what Eaglespirit said. I started the website in hopes to get people in the area to join. I'm not taking any responsibility for anything except the website. My goal was not to really have any leaders, but all members with equal votes and opinions in "matters?" Anyway, if there is going to be some kind of leader(s), there are a few people in the area with over 250 and Rich and Zhanna, I concuRR, would be grrrreat leaders. (Someone had to get the ball rolling, why not me?)

Its a feeble attempt at a website since i don't know where to go to make them, but here is my attempt at starting the Northeastern PA Geocachers Association. NEPAGA

I was wondering if there is a cachers association in Pennsylvania, or more specifically, the top right quadrant of it? Benefits could include nominating and electing caches that are especially good to special awards, so that better caches get more logs. Also cachers would probably be willing to travel more if they know a good cache, or good cache area is out there. Another thing would be event caches would be easier to plan and organize. Don't have time to do research so i was just wondering if any are out there, and if not, what the first step to helping create one would be?
