  1. I have a Palm Pre and have attempted importing gpx files into both the Geocaching for webOS and Go To Tool apps. I have been unable to import into either of these. I have tried importing the pocket query gpx, as well as both version 1.0 and 1.1 gpx files from GSAK. Since I'm having problems with both apps, I assume the error is on my part. Any advice/help is much appreciated.
  2. Don't waste your $30 on the Classic app. It's not running Cachemate. I keep getting error that locks up the whole system. I'm now trying to import GPX file into the Geocaching for webOS app; not having any luck with that either. So....... I guess I'll use my old laptop with XP for GSAK so I can send my Cachemate files to my old 'obsolete' Palm IIIxe. So much for 'upgrading'
  3. The app that lets you run legacy Pam OS apps is "Classic" by Motion Apps. I've tried it out and it works fine, but I haven't decided if it is worth the $30 price tag yet. If I can get cell reception, I can just look up the info on the Geocache app. It's nice to have Cachemate as an offline backup. I also wrote Smittyware to plead for a webOS version. Personally, if I'd realized Palm had fallen under the HP umbrella, I would have upgraded to a whole different system; probably android.
  4. There are a couple of micros among my faves because the cleverness. The best ones are the ones a muggle would never notice, but stand out shrply for the geocacher seeking that little something that just doesn't look quite right.
  5. Phibian is a mutant humanoid frog (X frog?). Signal is a cyborg/bionic frog (note antenna). Cyborgs can be rebuilt..... we have the technology..... stronger..... faster......
  6. Have you considered a used model? The Garmin GPS 12 is a great starter model available for around $35 on e-bay. Cables on ebay available from $8. I've used one for 7 years. Sturdy model, good reception, user friendly. I've had only minor problems, but Garmin support is exceptional. Just recently got free advice from them on a software fix. The fact that they continue to give support for an "obsolete" model has definitely made me a loyal Garmin user.
  7. Eagle Scout 1988, Troop 300, Pleasant Hill, MO. Heart of America Council. Mic-O-Say Runner Little Silver Distant Fox. 2 years on camp staff. 2 trips to Philmont.
  8. My faves so far have been the July and September ones.
  9. I vote in favor! Texas Geocaching icon selector has a "historical site" attribute icon you can add, but I don't see an educational one.
  10. I bought the coin the first day it was available. Shortly therafter the price dropped. Then it went on sale. JULY coin recieved late August. I paid for a coin with an icon. It is mid-September, I have no icon. Disappointed in quality of coin, Signal looks more like a 1920's ethnic caricature than a frog. So, yes I think 'displeased' is appropriate. Caveat emptor.
  11. Still nothing on this. Am starting to become 'displeased'.
  12. Now I don't even have the small one.
  13. small one is up, still no large one
  14. Yeah, well I don't care that you don't care. Sounds apathetic to me. Not sure what topic is supposed to be about, but I'm keeping my hands off and in full view.
  15. Wow, I never thought this would be an angst thread. Sheeesh.
  16. 32 and 1 DNF, mostly micros, 34.1 miles by bicycle with some of the local big-time cachers. Towards the end I just wanted to get done with the route and go home. Doing that many in one day tends to blur things a bit.
  17. The makers of the Willy's Jeeps must be rolling in their graves now that Jeep is owned by the Germans and being sold by a guy with a corny Bismarck mustache (what is his Doctorate in anyway? And have you heard the 'Doctor Z' commercials done in Spanish? HILARIOUS!).
  18. Has anyone tried hiding a message in the cache page source code? I don't know how to do this personally but I'm sure it could be done. Could be a good way to write those "invisible" messages. Thought of it from the pic of the fishing girl - but didn't see anything in its code.
  19. How about this for a member only feature (and a feature I'd like to see anyway): The ability to add other cachers to your watchlists. Know when they log a new find etc. Good for friendly competition.... Or obsessed stalking.

    PROFILE MAP

This one is how I made my map on my profile. Unfortunately it only shows the US.
  21. Thanks for the info. What I had was based on what I'd seen on the Travel Channel on TV. Any chance signal will go visit His Royal Highness Prince Leonard of Hutt River while on the Aussie continent? That's one country with no caches yet. Maybe one can get placed there this month.
  22. Love the September desktop calendar. I'm quite sure though that placing a geocache on Ayer's Rock is a major no-no. Somebody tell me if I'm wrong, but last I heard, non-aborigines cannot even touch the rock itself. Several campgrounds around it though - watch out for baby-stealing dingoes. Is there a cache at the top of the Sydney bridge? Now that would be a fun urban micro!
  23. Finally got my July Signal coin in the mail today. Activated it and checked my inventory to make sure it logged. The icon is the plain cent sign icon. What happened? Did I screw up somewhere? Has the special icon not been created/loaded yet?
