  1. When I first met Kendal in 1987 the interest was on computers. Kendal was a pioneer in internet and became an ISP with his Omega BBS. He will be missed in both the geocaching and computer communities.
  2. It seems that my sensitivity to poison Ivy and Poison Oak varies from year to year. I think there must be several factors at work here so I follow the rule of "Leaves of three. Leave it be"
  3. Before there was Waymarking, I visited the Dry Falls & Mt St. Helens in Washington, The Murals in Paducah KY and other waymarks. I have photographic proof of my visits. Should I log these, I have logged in the "watertower" (read that Lamppost) category. I would give someone my old and way outdated Polaroid PDC 700 so that they could take those "needed" pics
  4. I would like to be a lurker, but I hardly know how or where to lurk. I am an old man and have opinions on almost anything whether associated with geocaching or not. For awhile I was bemoaning the loss of virtuals and the inanity of Waymarking, but I have decided to just "go with the flow" and geocache for the personal enjoyment of conversing with nature.
  5. I must say that a "virtual" even it may not seem to be a cache to some is an excellent way to direct a cachers attention to a spot of history or unusual interest that might otherwise be overlooked. The CATEGORIES in Waymarking do nothing to alert a geocacher that there is something unusual, in the area, unless the searcher already has an interest in a Waymarking category they will not be looking for it. I am aware that Groundspeak is interested in growth and that means beaming their promotional efforts toward the younger people with money to spend. That is a fact of life and the old and feeble will have to accept that. I like virtuals if they can be justified. I don't really care for the Micro and sub Micro "caches". In my estimation a "cache" should contain something of value that a person is hiding and an item removed should be replaced with a similar item. Of course there is the remote possibility that I could be wrong. I am so physically old that I don't do the 5 star terrain listings. I would like to suggest that posters check their spelling before sending the post.
  6. I was trying to get a virtual site approved back in August when I ran into the NO MORE block. I did not know that they were being eliminated. Then I was turned toward Waymarking with the "Soon to be accepting Proposals for Categories " block. Now I see that I might try being patient until maybe February before Waymarking gets ready to accept suggestions for viable points of interest outside "McDonalds" and "Dog Runs" I guess what I am saying is "Fugetit"
  7. When I Googled Lime Kiln, I got over a Million sites. This must be a viable topic for Waymarking. I have been trying to get the Lime kilns at Bayview Idaho recognized as a virtual with no success
