  1. I've never been able to get a list downloaded. I just received a brand new phone (Galaxy S22) and installed the app, and lists still won't download. It shows the circle with the square on it, but no progress is ever made. Phone has plenty of space. No other PQs are downloaded. App has media and location privileges. I really wish this worked since I often am looking for caches when a cell signal isn't available.
  2. Related to this, when viewing puzzle caches in the map view would show the puzzle piece icon at the solved coordinates and remove the icon from the original coordinates. That seems to be having issues as well.
  3. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll send a note to mccgeofun first and see if they have any details. I also noticed on the map of the bug's travels that it shows where the cache is, so I'm wondering if I can narrow it down that way too. Unfortunately it's about 300 miles from where I live.
  4. I have a travel bug which hasn't been active for a few months, so I just looked it up to see that status. It shows it was dropped off in a cache, but when I click on the cache link, In YES You CAN!, I get an error that the cache hasn't been published. Any ideas on how I can get more details on where it might be? If it was somehow dropped into a cache which wasn't approved, I'd like to at least be able to get the coords so I can retrieve it myself or contact the owner of the cache. Thanks!
  5. I guess I'd better go retrieve the cache. I simply was wanting to be able to search archived caches to see if this was a problem area (caches plundered, etc), but didn't expect to get ripped on this. I never really even thought about there being a ban on caches in this park since it's a city park, and Dallas has thousands of caches in various parks throughout the city, and it has baseball fields, horseback trails, etc, so didn't think it was some kind of nature preserve. Regarding permission, I know the rules on hiding caches on private land, national forests, etc. But I wasn't aware that we needed to call and get permission for hiding a cache anywhere even on public lands. I'll just stick to finding them as opposed to hiding them. How's that?
  6. I guess that's my point. How are we supposed to know if there's a ban on them? There's nothing to lead me to believe there's an outright ban on using this park. Just seems odd that none exist. I submitted the cache listing yesterday and added a note to the reviewer asking if they can look up any archived caches in the park. Since it's not far and I go there regularly, it's not a big deal to retrieve the container in case it's not approved. Is that still a bad plan?
  7. I haven't had good luck with the local reviewers, so I won't bother them. If the caches go missing or if the approvers don't approve them, then I'll just cut my losses or retrieve the containers.
  8. That's a bummer. There's a large park nearby which oddly enough has no caches. I live in an area dense with caches so it's hard to believe none exist in this park. I was hoping to see if there had been caches which had been plundered or otherwise removed for other reasons, but it doesn't appear to be possible. I guess I'll hide a few and cross my fingers.

Yeah, it's much better not to give any indication on the site that it's having problems and let thousands of people try over and over again to attempt to get to pages which don't work. While I'm sure most people have a life outside of caching, I can see why people are complaining. I also had plans on taking a road trip today to do some caching, but I'm obviously going to have to change plans. No biggie, but it is frustrating nonetheless. To expect people to not complain when a service they pay for is unavailable is unreasonable however.
  10. 12. Have the ability to tie two or more user profiles to the same log entry. For instance, when I go caching with the same person often, we both log the same thing separately but say the same thing. Would be nice to handle it with one log entry, but have it count as a find for all involved.
  11. I guess I've never liked Mobipocket, but I used it because it was easy. I'd get my query. I'd use the GPX file load load my GPS, and the PRC could be installed on my Palm m515. There were problems with characters and other things not showing up right, but it was still usable. Now that it's gone I've looked into alternatives. Even though some work better, it's a hassle, and I could see where computer non-literate types would easily get confused or give up. My girlfriend could take the PRC and load it on the Palm with no problem. However, she's definitely not going to want to hassle with conversions and multiple steps. So far I tried Cachemate, which I wasn't very pleased with, and GSAK+Plucker. Using Plucker is somewhat of a pain since you also need to convert the GPX file into HTML, and I used GSAK for this. I suppose the extra couple of steps might be worth it since the output looks better on the Palm than the Mobipocket, but like I said earlier, many people won't want the hassle.
  12. I know the feeling. More and more of the caches I'm coming across now are just plain boring. We did some local caching recently and out of the 10 or so we found, about 6 were just these 35MM containers stuck in a light pole in a parking lot. I'd normally ignore them, but you never really know until you get there. Then you're too close not to do it, although I'm passing up on more and more of them. I like to get numbers as much as anyone, but I'm in it for the fun mostly. 2 of the others we found were still micros and hidden in woods where a larger cache probably would've been great. I've noticed my kids aren't nearly as excited when we find log only types of caches. Puzzle caches are okay unless it involves something I can't do in the car. Like additional research on the Internet, complex math, pictures, etc. Most of my caches are done on road trips, and I don't look at all the ones I'm going to do beforehand. Many of the puzzles never came across very well on my Palm either, so couldn't do them if I wanted to.
  13. I was reading some old threads about external queries, and it was mentioned that there might be a web services interface in the works. Is that something that might be available in the near future? I'm trying to work on a web site where I can keep track of some custom trackable coins. I'd like to be able to have people enter the waypoint, and use that to get the coordinates. Doing something like this using web services would be easy if that was available. Thanks!
  14. A while ago I had created a webcam cache, but when it came time to approve it the webcam had died. After a while the approver archived it. Now the webcam is back up, but I can't seem to unarchive it or kick it back to get approved. I've tried to send a note to the approver but they never seem to respond. Anyone know what I need to do, short of just creating a brand new one? Thanks for any help.
