  1. All of these issues can also apply to any other cache type - soggy log/broken container, CO is out of the game, and subsequent finds without signing the logs etc. so it's unreasonable to single out Webcams as a special case.
  2. Somewhat ironically this thread would have made an ideal post in the now defunct thread
  3. Bad call to suddenly shut down the "What Irks You Most?" thread. It's been going for over 10 years with 52 followers, 4.6k replies and 328k views, and as far as I know it hasn't caused any major riots. It always seemed to me to be a good place for people to go just for a good old moan, like popping down the pub for a pint with friends to chew over the fat. I've never posted to it, and didn't really follow it, so why should I care? Well having it all in one place means it's easy for me to ignore, but gives the people who do participate somewhere to hang out, whereas if the suggestion in the closing post is followed then all the complaints will be spread around multiple threads and harder for me to pass them over. Closing it down sort of confirms this from the penultimate post and I can't help wondering if this was why it was really closed in a fit of pique?: I wonder if there's any chance of it being re-opened?
  4. If I understand you correctly you're expecting those logs to appear on your gc.com "homepage", but they don't you need to look here: https://www.geocaching.com/play/owner
  5. Just adding my vote to get this fixed. Did a Virtual and Earthcache yesterday both of which require pictures which I had attached to my draft log but wouldn't upload so had to post the logs and then go back and add the pictures - very poor.
  6. Something like this would be a big improvement over the current situation. I also think GS should open up the API to 3rd parties to develop apps, as they have done with traditional caching, such a move would open up the game to more innovation and creative ideas such as these.
  7. I think this round would have been better as: Easy: Find ANY 3 cache types. Medium: Find ANY 5/6 cache types. Hard: Find ANY 8 cache types. But of course that wouldn't allow GS to push people into doing Labs Caches...
  8. The MK Mega's on the 5th, this doesn't start until the 7th.
  9. Mine said 3 countries visited, though I've only visited 2! I suspect the third one is because I logged GC9FAVE so it counted USA.
  10. D/T grid filling is a thing that many cachers do so I wouldn't change the D/T after the first handfull of finds, and only then if there was significant feedback about the rating. It happened to me once that a 6 year old cache had its T changed by 0.5 point which was irritating but I wouldn't dream of complaining to the CO or calling them out for it. Having changed it you might as well leave it, and you could put out a new 4/3 cache.
  11. Yes, you can adopt them over to another cacher. You might get a better response on a local geocaching Facebook group (if you are on FB), maybe try https://www.facebook.com/groups/539125679469080
  12. When they had the fire in the datacentre years ago Jeremy was sending out live updates from the parking lot, that was what drove me to sign up to Twitter and I haven't really used it since.
  13. hddd mm.mmmm is correct, set the datum to WGS84 and ignore the last bit of the decimal.
  14. Do you mean this sort of thing, but curved to fit the profile of a post? If so I've never seen anything like that for sale, I suppose they might be available "in the trade" but not gonna be easy to get hold of retail, so I suspect they might have been custom made, or one of these which they've curved themselves https://www.screwfix.com/p/lap-1-gang-blanking-plate-brushed-stainless-steel/63495
  15. I didn't think they could require that. I thought that you can either send them a message through the message system, or send a mail to the CO via their profile page, which allows you to NOT send your Email address to them. If it was me I'd use one of those and log it anyway, if they delete the find because they don't like the way you sent the mail then appeal it.
  16. What, you mean like https://coord.info/GC9P67M which is a nautical drive by, as long as you can get a picture of the island from your ship you're done. BTW I make it 4 virtuals in Antarctica, and I suspect the issue here is not that Groundspeak won't approve virtuals in Antarctica and more the fact that cachers don't seem inclined to place virtuals in Antarctica, so if there's another round of virtuals released apply for one and stick your own out...
  17. Yesterday I logged a find on a cache and gave it an FP. Today I decided to change the find to a Write Note, I edited the log to change it but the cache page still shows the same FP total and lists me under "view who favourited this cache". Am I being too impatient expecting it to change straight away and it will eventually sort itself out?
  18. It's still there: http://gcvote.com/ Looks like it might not, that page now gives:
  19. I was told by someone who enquired about getting it to a UK Mega event that they didn't do it because of the cost.
  20. One factor about the GPS maze is that it's apparenty VERY expensive to get the maze to come to your event, as far as I know it's only been to the UK once, so can't read a lot into that. The only conclusion you can really draw is that big events might not be so popular, the percentage of cachers who go to large events is tiny, and many cachers won't have even heard of Mega or Giga events, so I don't think you should read too much into it.
  21. Can you please provide a link to the particular thread where you would like this to be discussed? I tried to create a centralised request HERE which may or may not be the post you're referring to, but there are others. It's been requested many times over many years (possibly the single most frequent request?) but from my memory I've never seen any sort of response from Groundspeak. Either way it would be good to have all the requests for this feature pointed to the one thread.
  22. You considering Geocaching a "wast of time" because you are not getting any points for your finds? Maybe you should look for a different hobby which provides you more fun and enjoyment I would take that to mean it's a wast of time creating and promoting the Wheel of Challenges side game if it's not going to work correctly.
