  1. All of the above, but if you fancy a multi which will allow you to visit a few of the villages around Lovedean then I can recommend Force 9 and it's preliminaries South, North, West, and East wind.
  2. I haven't laughed so much in ages, the bloke who got the scammer to complete a 64 page questionair with questions such as "Why do birds suddenly appear, every time you are near?" had me in stitches
  3. I've just had a try and was getting exactly the same prob as Mattwaggie, I've reloaded the script from your link and it seems to be working O.K. now.
  4. If I find it I post a find. If I get the opportunity to look for it and can't find it I post a DNF. If I get in the vicinity and then can't look for it (e.g. 'cos of muggles) then I post a note. So every cache I set out for gets a posting of some kind, at least it lets the cache owner know I've shown an interest in their cache and appreciate their efforts in placing it.
  5. There's GCJ55E Highclere Binary Cache . which is near Highclere castle, although it's a castle by name we brits would probably call it a stately home.
  6. Talking of GPS reception, I have recently found that if I am in a bad signal area I can get a signal if I balance the GPS on top of my head I figure that this is because of one of the following: 1. It's a bit nearer the satellite so the signal's stronger. 2. The GPS signals don't need to go through any part of my body therefore I'm not acting as a screen. 3. Because it's a bit higher it gets a better "view" through the tops of the trees. 4. The signals are being bounced off my scull & giving the receiver a better chance at picking up the signal. 5. It's just coincidence and I'm making myself look like an idiot for no good reason Anyone got any thougts? BTW it does make it difficult to follow the arrow though (note I don't believe 1 for a moment but I thought I'd include it for the controversy it might generate).
  7. Interestingly most of the bugs seem to have moved on now and this cache is only showing 2, one of which is Cap'n Wee Eck which you placed in there so it looks like they were just a bit late logging the find (or maybe they read your note and felt guilty
  8. When this has happened to me a couple of times I've stuffed the cache into the top of my rucksack/daybag and then it just looks like you're rifling through your bag. No good if you haven't got a bag with you though
  9. I think you've made a mistake including GC3867 The Photographer's Cache IV As this is a hybrid/locationless from someone based in South Africa, and it's seen a lot of activity in April. Or maybe I'm missing something
  10. I've picked up screwdriver multi-tool (no knife blades) and I've left a set of small screwdrivers, it never occured to me that these might be contraband.
  11. I think GC7FE0 "Yew (W. Sussex)" deserves to be up there. There'a a very spooky Yew forest with tales of hauntings, several Iron/Bronze age barrows and from the top of the hill you can see for miles to the North into W. Sussex & Hampshire, and to the South down to the Isle of Wight & the sea.
  12. The camo version is all very well until the day you put it down while you fill in the log and then you can't find it again! And Yes I picked up a Bookcrossing book at GCME1R, which I've since released again.
  13. It's here: http://www.geograph.co.uk/ Basically they want a photo of every square km of the UK.
  14. Hi, There seem to be quite a few people out there who combine Geographing and Geocaching (including me). If you want a chance to meet up with some other Geocachers and have a chat there's a get together in Binfield (which seems to be in your part of the world) at the end of the month, see the GCNCQG "Event" cache here : http://stats.guk2.com/caches/osgb_cache_details.php?g=226752 You never know there might be someone there looking to dispose of a GPSr at a reasonable price, if not then there's always BEER....
  15. The link to Anchor Supplies don't work. The URL it's linking to is: http://geocachingportal.mysite.wanadoo-mem.../indi.htm"
  16. On the subject of FTF's GCN6J7, UK Travel Bug Retirement Home, is a home for ageing TB's and as such doesn't exist so it says on the log page that it cannot be "found", consequently it is always going to show up as a virgin cache. Wouldn't it be an idea for 1 person (maybe the cache owner) to log 1 find against it to stop it keep appearing? Or maybe as it was my idea I could log it and get another FTF
  17. 42) He's the one eyeing up the beer barrels and wondering where he can find a tree with big enough roots. Wow 42, this must be the ULTIMATE answer then.
  18. Perhaps the NT have a different view depending on what type of land it is, the one above looks like open heath/hills which is accessible by anyone at any time and just happens to be in the possession of the trust. They might have a different view for estates/parkland where access is restricted & where some sort of access controls are in place.
  19. Try Ebay, they vary from magnetic stips a-la fridge seals, through craft magnets for making your own fridge magnets, right up to some rare earth magnets that come with scary warnings.
  20. If it's a tupperware box, then they're probably thinking "What on earth has that bloke got in his sandwiches?" For me I always keep the written log very brief, mostly because my handwriting is truly awfull and I'm never comfortable writing stuff by hand whatever the weather and regardless of who's about, so it's usually confined to my name (& anyone who was with me), what I took & left (if anything) and always a TFTC. I always try and make the web log a bit more chatty, with some comment on the location, difficulty, weather, what else I was up to at the time and some feedback for the cache owner if appropriate.
  21. Do the spell checkers also check inconsistent spellings too? Go on, which one are you going to plump for, is it "er" or "ar" ? Note: this isn't a personal attack on the poster above but a general comment on some of the points raised in the discussion. Speaking personally I get pretty miffed by people who bang on all the time about poor spelling and grammar. I think you should all consider that: 1. Not everyone has english as a first language, so just consider when criticising whether your spelling and grammar in another language would be any better than that which you are commenting on. Admittedly this isn't often the case in this forum. 2. Not everyone had the benefit of your education, or your genes. Some people find it difficult enough using the english language as it is for various reasons without people having a go at them every time they post. 3. The english language is a pretty complex thing and some people are just good at other things. When your maths, science, music, artistic, etc... skills are such that you can pontificate on ALL subjects without fear of criticism then fell free to have a go at other peoples use of english. All this was written from the hip, with no use of spell or grammar checkers. There may be some errors in it, but I don't feel the need to waste time checking it. Feel free to nit pick
  22. This could be perfectly innocent behaviour, there are a number of caches near work that many people bag 2 or 3 together. I'm doing them all 1 at a time in order to give me something to do at lunchtime when I really need a bit of fresh air. If I hit them all together I'd have nothing to look forward to.
  23. Oddly enough I was looking at this one over the weekend, and wondering "Where can I lay my hands on a Hovercraft?"
  24. Well there's these 3 which the Ridgeway goes through or close to just south of Swindon: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...fb-7ea5cadff440 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...2b-6cdb01fdeff3 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...db-c049d47bee7a
