Ah... thanks. I have my Garmin now anyway and I'm (slowly) downloading the Birdseye data. I visited http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/view/226/ which for the maps I need, led me to here: http://www.smc.org.uk/ContourMaps.php And this provides me with a load of '.img' files. I can't, however, work out how to get these into a format that the Garmin will like? This is complicated by me not having a PC - Mac OSX only, I'm afraid. Is this possible on a Mac? Any pointers? Thanks so much for that information - Garmin it is. Not sure which one yet but I'm closing in ;-) Question though - the Dakota takes up to 2000 entries - but is that per memory card? So I could store 2k on one card, another 2k on another? Or do all entries go on to the internal memory and the cards used purely for map data etc? Thanks, Jamie.

Does anyone here know if this device is to be launched in the UK at all? And if it's not, if I purchase it from the US are there likely to be problems I'll encounter? IE will it be possible for me to load the appropriate maps on to the device easily? I did try to email Magellan Europe about this but the email address on their website bounces quite nicely :-( Thanks, Jamie.

I don't have a PC at all - only use Macs. Does anyone know if I'd be able to use the Magellan Explorist GC with the Mac or will I need to find myself an alternate device? Thanks, Jamie.
