  1. I always have to check the number of caches found for people who post things like this. I can't tell if it's sarcasm or not otherwise Not meaning to bash on LPCs. I love 'em Totally true - no sarcasm intended!
  2. Newbie here too. These are great suggestions. I'm ashamed that we just walk with our GPSr, a pen, and a small pad. Guess I need to get a super-hero-like utility belt for all the stuff I need to carry. No way my 15 year old will go with us now. She's already too embarrased by mom and dad digging around in bushes and trees to find these things.
  3. We are new to this as well and have been amazed by the hiding places. The best one yet was someone actually hid the cache beneath the base of a street light. I never knew you could lift those things up. Thank goodness for the hint or we would have struck out!
  4. This is really helpful to me as well. We had about the same success rate this weekend on our first family caching attempts. You guys keep suggesting to only search for larger caches which makes lots of sense. How can I narrow my search parameters to avoid the micro and nano caches? Is there a search option that lets you select the size caches youw ant to find? Thanks!
  5. Thanks for the tips. We tried again last night for one in particular that keeps eluding us. No GPSr with us. No luck. May wait and see if someone else finds it and then go try again. THanks!
  6. We're new to the sport and have a brand new Delorme PN-40 which is supposed to do "paperless" geocaching. We went out this weekend and ended up with several DNF and only 2 finds. My question is how close, generally speaking, should the GPSr get you to ground zero? And are the coords posted usually in the immediate vicinity of the cache? We were walking circles around GZ for three caches and there was nothing there at all. We probably just don't know what we're doing BUT i at least did read the directions on my new GPSr
  7. Someone suggested that I post the usage example that I found. Not sure how to directly link you to the cache listing but it's called "Someone Had to Do It" and its located within 2 miles of zip code 31028. Thanks the help so far. I'm liking "Magnetic Key Box" too.
  8. New to the sport and keep seeing references to "MKB" in cache listings. What is MKB? I'm guessing its something magnetic, but can't be sure. Help please!
